i was worried i had started to over rate cheikas level of smarts, but to see him move folau to the wing was the only logical choice considering how horrible folau has been in his first two games at fullback.

IMO after folaus first game agaisnt the reds the signs were clearly there for all to see, that folau has no idea not one iota of a clus as to what to there, so shame on cheika for delaying the inevitable, but at least they didnt lose the rebels game, so cheika saved face.

there is a snowballs chance in hell of folau being ready to play for the wallabies in the lions series, hes just way too green.

what i can see is him developing his game and growing into a very competent player, but thats about a year and a half away and i dont think he will have the patcience to stay in the game that long.

though maybe it will take a guru like robbie deans to unlock that potential inside of folau.

@Sasuke- Was Sonny Bill Williams a better player at league or was Folau better?

From what I have read in the media Folau was better at League, although Sonny Williams was also exceptional at league.

From what I would understand playing wing in either code is not that much different, apart from the tackle area. Although I have never played league and do not watch it either, so that is a laymans comment to say the least.

What surprised me when I watched the game, I believe against the Reds when Folau was playing at fullback.

An opposition player was running for the tryline with only Folau as the last line of defence in front of him.

Folau tackled the player, but as he was stationary at the time, the runners momentum from being at fullspeed took him and Folau over the tryline.

Michael Lynagh on Sky Sports said that was due to inexperience at Rugby Union, that he should have ran forward before making the tackle.

Surely in league it is the same?

It is better to run at the attacking player to hit him with momentum, than stand stationary just before the tryline. (Goal Keepers often run at the attacking football player to close down their space, it is better than just standing on the tryline/ goal line.

I would imagine this is the same with other sports like girls netball, girls hockey etc?). If someone is running to score for the hoop or goal, why just stand on the line to give the attacking player all the time and space in the world. Even more so with rugby union/league as it is a contact sport where the runners momentum will add to their power to take them over the line.

Perhaps Folau is nervous, but I can see how standing on the line makes any sense. Also one coaching session at fullback would explain that anyway.
