who is really going to take us places. His squad is great but for the odd omission and we have not seen the inclusion of du Preez and Matfield.

Lets hope he takes it a step further and does not select Jean at centre and Morne at 10 - he does not need to. JP or JJ at 13 would be perfect as would Jantjies at 10 - man this kid was the spark in tha Lions side today.

This kid and Goosen are going to take our backs to another level over the next few years.

Meyer got the following selections wrong. We should have seen Elstadt ahead of Franco v/d Merwe, Brussouw ahead of Alberts, Kolisi ahead of Kankan

Sure select JJ who couldn't defend against a flank for the outside gap. You are clueless really.

Oh give it a break Moz, one miss and you want to throw the towel in on the guy. He was unbalanced, it was not a one on one miss......unlike Spies slapping your hero Jean......should we discard Jean as well????????

He lost the game.....jean was just fended and held position. Everybody misses tackles, but missing your man through the outside gap is lethal. And when that man is a forward it's also embarrassing.

Enough of the unbalanced bs....he was lined up on a flank one on one....and he was gassed.

Moz you dont half speak a load of shit.......do you honestly believe Kolisi is faster than JJ - give me a break.

One man NEVER loses a game for a side. JJ is a quality youngster, he missed Kolisi, Jean missed Spies - it happens.

So based on that miss you now going to tell us JJ is a poor player - oh boy, I can see it now - another one to add to the list!!!!!

There are 32 players in the squad announced - so ten will have to be dropped.   Top of the drop list should be Kirchner and Olivier.    But the other 8 positions are wide open.   Who would be the Weakest Link.   Any suggestions, please

On todays game Hougaard should go back to wing - he was poor today and has been for the past five games in S15.   I am beginning to think that Hougaard is not on the scrummie short list.   Why have 3 scrummies on the list?  However, Pienaar can be used in other positions as well.   Maybe not this time - but definitely next series - Spies may be extremely vulnerable

Oh what rubbish Mike, Hougaard was good as he always is. There is no way in hell we can waste our best back on the wing. Meyer will select him at 9 and rightly so.

The 10 that should not make it are Kirchner, Basson, Olivier, Morne, Vermaak, A.Strauss, W.Kruger, Franco v/d Merwe, Kankan and Alberts

Saffex - to my mind the right way to go about the team - but I am afraid that one name will not be possible to drop Werner Kuger.  Another name, please.

Your choice of centres and flyhalf is shocking. JPP in particular has been heavily exposed from beginning to end. Then there is Jantjies. What has this midget done all year? He missed all his tackles against the Reds, being bamboozled by the Australian half back pair!

My centres are spot on, hell you would have selected midget de Jongh who has done nothing all season in a winning side. JP has been good at 13, has always had that knack of beating defenders and at 13 he has more chance of that. Big physical guy who can impose himself.

Jantjies has been great in a losing side, kid has a lovely touch and feel for the game as evidenced today. Compare that to the ponderous stuff old Morne dishes up week after week

If JP has been so great then how do you account for his extraordinarily poor defence and positional play? Do you think that this will have gone unnoticed by the Kiwis or Aussies? Added to that, test rugby does not gift you gaps as easily as the modern Super rugby does. He can hit a gap, not much else. His distribition is also nothing to right home about. A waste of one of the best wingers SA has ever produce. All because the Sharks to too stupid to invest in an actual outside centre! And no, I do not consider Joubert to be among quality centres. Another idiotic signing by a union that has more money than brains.

Nothing wrong with his positional play or defence - his strength is his uncanny ability to slip tackles and his deceptive strength. JP is the answer at 13 until Taute returns. JJ needs an extended run at 13 as well

@der

Partially agree with you on JP's defense.

He is prob the best defensive winger we have ever had. Man on man he is great.

I just worry about his defensive lines at 13. That would be my only concern.

Ive been wondering how J Strauss, Kolisi and Brussouw were left out...

My thinking was that Heyneke has opted for combo players. Ie: players who have played together like Daniel, Coetzee and Fat Albert.

Similar could be said about the front row. The sharks combo do dominate when playing together, so no hassles there.

But i feel the most for JS, he def deserved a call up.

Very much agree Flash, as a wing his defence is of the highest order. Outside centre though is a completely different proposition. It's the hardest position on the field to defend at.

Plumtree is a fool. After losing both his first choice centres he should have used players from the Vodacom cup team....Sithole, Mjekevu etc. Why he revived a failed experiment in JP is mind-boggling.

I'm very surprised that Brussow has not been selected. Any thoughts on that?

Oh what rubbish, Meyer has done a good job. He has ignored the little guys in the Stormers side that would never make it at test level - de Jongh, Aplon and Joe.

The only Stormers players that should have made the squad are Kolisi and Elstadt.

Had Burger, Bekker and Vermeulen been fit, they would have made the squad. Kitshoff is in the Baby Bok squad so was not considered.

So in effect Meyer has missed 2 Stormers players - much like he has with two Bulls players in Greyling and CJ Stander

Saf, I don't mind that some Stormers did not make it, I'm pissed off that Meisiekind and Kirchner did. Says it all really.

this reminds me of the first Springbok coach post-Apartheid,John Williams. He favoured his Northern transvaal players,as a result there was no unity in the team and players retreated to provincial clusters.

Disagree Draad, both Kirchner and Olivier are quality players. I have always been a fan of both. Kirchner always looks to attack and I like that in a 15, has a good step on him.

Olivier has proved himself years ago. I dont buy into the crap that he failed at test level. He has played very few games at 12 for the Boks and never for an extended period.

Cant say he would make the Bok 22 and nor would Kirchner. We dont have depth at 15, with Lambie as the only real option. Joe and Aplon are too small. Kirchner is our best back-up to Lambie.

With Whitehead injured, Olivier was the best option as back-up to Frans and Jean at 12. Reality is that Jean and Olivier have past their best days and 12 will need to come from Frans, Whitehead, Frans Venter and Jan Serfontein in the future

Saffex

Greyling cooked his own goose yesterday - he could not stand up to Malherbe and that was it.   By the way there are six players that was added to the camp - although not up for selection and Kolisi and Malherbe are two of those.   I believe that if one of the props or loosies are injured - they could possibly be selected.

Disagree, the ref cocked those scrum calls up. There was nothing between Malherbe and Greyling
