Apparently the ANC is trying to get rid of Zuma as President of South Africa.   There has been a series of meetings by the ANC over the last week including -

*   The ANC NEC discussed the issue of Zuma and instructed the ANC Working Committee to deal with the Zuma issue;

*   The ANC Working Committee instructed the ANC Top 6 to discuss the issue on Sunday with Zuma and asked him to resign with dignity;

*   When Zuma refused the Working Committee met and called for a meeting tomorrow night of a Special NEC to deal with Zuma's refusal - which will be held tomorrow evening.

The State of the Nation Address was supposed to be on Thursday and it was suddenly postponed as announced by the Speaker this afternoon.

The general feeling amongst experts are that Zuma will resign as President within the next 48 hours,

The latest news is that Zuma is trying to use the Zulus to ensure he srtys in power.   That is according to the Communist Party.   He met with the Zulu king on Sunday morning and in their the Communist Party alleges  that Zuma is going to fire Ramaphosa as Deputy President and appoint Dr Zuma (his ex-wife) as Deputy President.

I do not think he would dare to do that,   if he tries that stunt he will end up in pieces in a funeral parlour.

Parliament - The South African Presidency on Tuesday night dismissed as "outrageous" rumours that President Jacob Zuma was preparing to fire Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and replace him with Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.

The South African Communist Party (SACP) had earlier accused Zuma of wanting to axe his deputy Ramaphosa, and further accused the embattled head of state of engaging in dangerous "ethnic mobilisation".

But the Presidency hit out, saying "the allegations reported in the media are preposterous and outrageous".

In a statement, the Presidency added: "The allegations are completely baseless. The allegations of ethnic mobilisation by the President are equally without foundation."

I saw the article you posted after posting the above.  Thanks,   The latest twist is that the NEC meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled and that negotiations between Zuma and Ramaphosa are continuing.     

It looks like Zuma "agrees to go"...what MUST NOT happen is that one of the conditions of his exit is immunity from prosecution for his blatant crimes and a very undeserving "golden handshake". This would be totally unacceptable.

How to remove a president from office

This corrupt, illiterate, thieving low life should be sentenced to life without parole.

He should have all his fixed assets confiscated and reduced to rubble ... all his finances re-appropriated to the betterment of our infrastructure ... and his son should join him in his 3 x 3 cell.

His entire family should be thrown out onto the street. If I were in charge I would feed him bread and water and nothing else.    

That however isn't going to happen. He will be sent off to go live his life out in absolute comfort.

That is the African way.

All corruption should be brought to justice...but crime amongst those who abuse power is winked at in Africa where jungle law prevails where principals are ignored and integrity is non-existent.

In a righteous country where the leaders have the interests of the nation at heart such compromises with criminals is non-negotiable...nobody is exempt from true justice and especially those with more accountability.

This will be a true test of Ramaphosa's character...whether he has courage and integrity?

If not and Zuma goes with immunity and a handsome settlement there will be nothing to celebrate...the markets might temporary react positively but this is the herd mentality and later false confidence will soon be of  no real substance and we sink further into the abyss.

I do not think you give the SA Courts enough credit for their stand in the case of crime and they have a way to overrule the Government in many cases.

I think Zuma was trying to arrange for a coup to stay an power as alleged by the Communist Party.    Apparently he tried to arrange for transport of so-called Zulu regiments to be deployed to help him keep control.    He was going to fire Ramaphosa and appoint Dr Zuma as Deputy President.   That could have been discussed with the King of the Zulus Sunday morning.

Somebody let the plan get out before it could be set in motion and all hell would have broken out if he tried that stunt - so Zuma had to abort it,   

Not the courts Mike, but the terms negotiated on exit, is what I meant...Zuma must go and have no golden handshake and stand trial...CR if he's strong must hardline this.

You are probably right about a planned coup d'etat...golly...that would end in bloodshed like we have not seen since Isandlwana or worst...the whole country would turn into civil war surely.

Its imperative that Zuma goes only so as to make way for some other deserivng candidate to loot South Africa and ensure the country goes nowhere fast.
