"14 - JP Pietersen (Sharks):
He seems so much more at home on the wing than when he was shifted to midfield earlier in the season.
Bubbling under: Dom Shipperley (Reds)"

JP makes the Team Of The Week with entirely accurate observations about where he fits. Sapp please take note.

I would have JP at 13 ahead of Jean anyday. JP is an illusive runner and would be just as dangerous at 13 as he is on the wing

Yes you would have you dumb plank. Just another of your monster goof ups, promoted with no thought and total confidence. But you got me thinking....what's an "illusive" runner?

"illusive"   Based on or having the nature of an illusion.  LOL

In other words, ducking and diving.. Leave the player in his position.  We are too casual in moving players around.  If you have ever played the game and had the "pleasure" of being moved around by a coach you will understand.  The defensive patterns are so different and the scramble and cover is different, all you do by moving players around is create confusion and an easy passage for the attacking team.

So Saffex, you'd put a sniper in a tank, just because he can shoot better?  No man, where's the logic son.

I have had no goof up's not a single one at test level. Not much thought needed with this one. If its a choice between Jean and JP for 13 for the Boks, JP gets my vote hands down. He is much more of a threat than Jean is with ball in hand and therein lies my reasoning. Not to mention the fact that he is 25 and chances are he could be a longterm investment there.

Hell going into a test against NZ with Jean at 13 means we stand a good chance of seeing little action in that channel. Stick JP there and there is at least the prospect that something might happen.

JP is in great form at the moment and at 13 he would have more of the ball. Would love to see him outside Frans

I'd say Jantjies is an "illusive" runner.....he gives Sapp the illusion of a player running with the ball, whereas he is actually kicking it.  And I'd say Aplon is an "elusive" runner, namely one who eludes tackles with ease. Of course only Sapp knows what Sapp meant, his writing is usually a conundrum cloaked in ignorance.

I do not want to re-argue this one again.  Piretersen was NOT comnfortable at 13 and did not perform in that position.   Since he is back at wing - he is a different player - as is shown in the later games in Super 15.   Initially the Sharks struggled with back line play and one of nthe reasons were the move of Pietersen to 13.

Will you never admit even that Pietersen should never again be played at 13 - he is not suitable for that position.   Game, set and match.

Mike get this into your head, JP was good at 13 for the Sharks - Plumtree said he was the best 13 in the country at the time. He was a makshift 13 doing a great job. Jordaan came into the picture on the strength of great Vodacom showings - it made perfect sense to reward Jordaan with a S15 spot at 13 and moving JP back to wing. But you are incapable of working that out aren't you?

Sapp you must be the only person left on the Planet who wants JP at 13....certainly none of the 5 guys who pick the TOTW want him there. Nor does his coach, nor does Meyer. But you alone are  right....haven't we seen this movie before!!!!!

Two other small things, I'm not on about your spelling. You got "illusive" completely right.....you just used the wrong word!  Think of this as helpful. When you are writing the sleuthing report on your latest infidelity case, think how embarrassing it would have been if your senior partner said: "Dave that's an elusive husband.....even though his wife wants him to be an illusion".  Just trying to further your career.

As for the name calling....I just have the sense you started it a few days back.....my "plank" plays your erstwhile "Dumbo".

No Moz, I dont want JP at 13, I said if it was a choice between JP and Jean for the Bok 13 spot, JP gets my vote.

My Bok 13 would be JJ right now, given Taute is injured

Saffex

The Shark backline performed better with Pietersen in his real position as a wing - NOT whilst he was at 13.    The facts speak for themselves.   Pietersen was effectively wasted at 13 and his passing game was on the poor side so the wings became ineffective.    Watch all the games he played at 13 and you will find that SIMPLE truth.   He is and remains one of the best wings in the world - don'nt theorize about him being an effective 13 - he was not.

Did the past season not tell you anything?   The fact that he did not perform to his full capacity at 13 left serious question marks as to his inclusion in the Bok team based on his performances at 13 - but back at wing he performed as expected.   With Jordaan at 13 - Pietersen played like a champion at wing.   Jordaan played extremely well and it helped Pietersen's game at wing tremendously.

Pietersen at 13 is wasted and to even think that he could replace De Villiers in that position must really be a joke.   He cannot and will be wasted there.   Keep him on the wing - where he is brilliant.

It is imperative that coaches justify their selections.  Plumtree would say in public things to support his selection strategy.   Coetzee says the same things about  De Jong - whilst everyone agrees he is harmless and most likely the main reason for under-performance of the Stormer backline and lack of try scoring.   Under the circumstances what coaches say to the public to justify their selection strategy is not necessarily reflected on what happens on the field of play - the latter is the important issue.   When Plumtree saw his strategy wiith Pietersen did NOT work - he found Jordaan as his solution at 13 and he has played him constantly since then.   Even Plumtree would not dream to put Pietersen back to 13 - so donn't use a very questionable selection that went wrong on the field of play to justify your theories.   It did NOT work out - and I am glad that Pietersen has been left at wing.
