8 – Wonderful individual brilliance and very good at fullback tactically.

5 – Only his second Test back and his legs aren’t quite there but he is world class and this tour is about getting him back into the mix.

6 – Composed and had the odd moment on attack but starved of ball in the second half. Defensively good.

7- Very busy off the ball. Outstanding work rate and defensively prominent. Little attacking ball came his way.

6 – More sound than sublime in the first half and had very little ball in the second half.

7 – Controlled the attack in the first 40 minutes but got limited chances on attack in second half.

8 – All-round game lacked for nothing. Strong in the carry, busy on defence and disciplined with his aggression.

8 – Immense in the first 20 minutes and the best forward on display in the 40 minutes he played.

8 – Excellent performance but left the field with five minutes to go after a cheap challenge from Jim Hamilton.

7 – Strong game from Van der Merwe in the first hour. Not quite as prominent in the last 20 minutes.

6 – The big guy can be happy with his Test comeback after a two-year absence. He lasted an hour and his legs did take some strain in the last 10 minutes he was on field.

6 – Decent start but lasted less than 40 minutes
