ok boys and girls, here are some transfer details for the upcoming 2014 spXV fantasy comp, :o)

it looks like there will be no allowances made for the first round which only has saffa teams.
im pretty sure it was the same last year too, so select ur bench accordingly and keep in mind u only have 6 transfers to get ur team the way u want it or close to it in round two.

and especially for the saffa brigrade, the dates and times provided is australian time.

Next round Deadline Free Transfers Round 1 16 Feb. 01:50 Unlimited Round 2 21 Feb. 17:20 6 Round 3 28 Feb. 17:20 3 Round 4 07 March 17:20 4 Round 5 14 March 17:20 3 Round 6 21 March 17:20 3 Round 7 28 March 17:20 4 Round 8 04 April 17:20 3 Round 9 11 April 17:20 4 Round 10 18 April 17:20 4 Round 11 25 April 15:20 4 Round 12 02 May 17:20 3 Round 13 09 May 17:20 3 Round 14 16 May 17:20 4 Round 15 23 May 17:20 3 Round 16 01 May 00:50 3 Round 17 27 June 17:20 4 Round 18 04 July 17:20 3 Round 19 11 July 17:20 3 Qualifiers 18 July 17:20 Unlimited Semi Finals 25 July 17:20 Unlimited Final 02 Aug. 17:20 Unlimited

Thanks Bro - I have the same problem as oi-matey.   The cheap players we used as bankers last year are the most expensive players this year and the budget is bloody awful.

I ran a test run and picked players for Round 1  and came up with a saving of $100 000, but it really is a hard one.  The only way I could keep within budget is to pick some cheap players,  which I will have to keep on the bench next time around.  They include the following:-

*   Pieter-Steph du Toit - Sharks

*   Hendry Pollard -  Bulls

*   Stokkies Hanekpm - Lions

*   Jurgen Visser - Bulls

There are very few cheap New Zealand players that will make the starting line ups of teams and the top Aussie players are all more expensive than they used to be - all are virtually outside of the budget provided.

I will obviously have to watch out for the actual team selection before finalising the team.

I'm there.
I've entered both leagues and I must say, I found the budget very generous. I've picked yet another shit-hot team well within budget. The Lightbringers are going to kick a lot of arse in 2014.

Good luck to you - I struggled like hell to get a team together  - which would help me in getting into round 2 unscathed.  Have $100 000 in reserve.

You said - "I've picked yet another shit-hot team well within budget."   Give us some advice as to how you managed that one, please.

Ou Maaik, all will be revealed when the first round is locked. I'm not giving away any tips or secrets before then . . . but I'll tell you that Willem alberts is excellent value for money and one of the first names on my team sheet!
My team is pure class and I have $135000 still in the bank in case some of my players are not selected.

Willem Alberts - not my choice for obvious reasons!!!

That guy averaged 9 points per game last year and that is not my cup of tea.  Wish you well though.

 Welcome Crusaders Guy

I noticed that you are actually punting the Canes - not Crusaders.   I generally shy away from Crusaders players - bar Dan Carter - but he is out this year - so I  will not have much to go for in that team.   I normally found that the Crusader players  are over-priced  and not always delivering performances to justify their selections.

I have already decided to punt Ardie Savea as a potential banker in my selections this year and has him on the bench.   Do you think he will make the starting line up of the Canes on a regular basis this year?   Hope he does - he was red hot in the Junior WC.

Any news?

 Crusader guy

Stick with the locks of substance.  The only lock forward in New Zealand  I rate is Sam Whitelock - but he is overpriced.   The locks I am going for this year  are Du Toit and Etzebeth.  Good value for money - those 2.

Pity the price up on Luatua is really massive ($415 000) and the other New Zealand player I banked last year was Charles Piutau - but he is not cheap either at $325 000.

Have to watch out for some reasonably priced NZ players - who will be worth the investment.

 @ clever mike...obviously you are bias towards your South African brothers...which is fine..du toit and etzebeth are both good locks...probably will score very high in fantasy...but you won't find a better locking combo than the one at the saders camp.whitelock,Romano,and Bird....Picking the right  hooker is the key though... That's the tough one! Strauss and fourie always high scores a must!Players like Piutau ,Luatua and Labuschagne...prices were always going to go up...there's always new young talent coming through ...get onto them early

Crusaders

Just a bit of advice.   Watch out for a player by the name  of Stokkies Hanekom - a center of the Lions - now that is really cheap stuff with promise.

You will find that I am always on the wrong side of most SA fans and fairly bi-partisan when it comes to issues - I like performance by players and also clever guys - not the Fruean guy with a bird brain as a rugby player - neither Nonu - big question about this one - has he got a brain at all???

And wife beaters are also not my cup of tea - so Savea is another one I dislike - especially after the yoyo performances in Super 15 last year - he cost me dearly. Another let-down player last year was Conrad Smith - is he on a sabbatical during Super 15.

Winner of Super 15 this year = obviously THE SHARKS,

@cruzy#1,

wassssssssssssup,

hey cuz, all good in the melbourne hood, loving it here and the fams all good and loving it too, :o)
well except for last week of course when that heat wave wreaked havoc on us poor melbonians, :o/

i hope u and urs are all good, still in perth??? if so, u wont be a stranger to the heatwave danger,,,,, guess all of OZ feel it at some stage when i think about it,

lucky luke still pops his head in for a cameo appearance, but he dosent blog anywhere near enough for my liking.
and of all the boys, it would be taps and blacksayian who i miss the most, could do with some more hurricane supporters here to help lighten the disappointment load,

glad ur in the fantasy comp though, u should also keep an eye out on another fantasy rugby site called testrugby.com, heres a link to the thread which will have all the details including link needed.
they are running a 6nats fanatsy comp, and thats a great place to practice the ins and outs of their fantasy style which while in spirit is the same as foxtel, the differences.

as for my hurricanes, despite players like ardie savea etc, im expecting sweet F all really, at least until we kick that useless cockehead hammet back to chch and make tana umaga coach.
ardie will be huge though, hes already doing things ive never seen any looseforward do, but consistency at spXv level is the key.
if his debut was naything to ho by, its not looking to shabby in the slightest, :o)

anyway bro, great to hear from u, hope u blog here heaps like u did back in abs.com,

@cloudzter,
errr buddy, taps was hurricane broski hard, but like most of us, he had love for kiwi teams, :o)

nah i never had their email, but i wish they did, maybe lucky luke has it???

@crusy#1,

hmmm not too worried about ardie for All black honours, but i would like to see him in the squad a bit more like he did on the EOYT.

king richie has the No7 locked up until the RWC easy and his backup sam cane has proven the goods, so no need for any major changes, unless ardie has a season the likes of which have never been seen before.

hes still got plenty to work on, especially the mental side of things where he just cant turn his skills on like the ITM final where he was disappointing.

but who knows, all i know is life is looking good after king richie, :o)

i have to say im really liking the look of both my fantasy teams too,

not sure how u struggled with budget on foxsport mikey, i found it easier to buy players for the all saffa round one and get players on the bench.
i should be sorted for round 2, and while i wont have the exact team i want, it will be close to it.

just a tiny update im sure some would have seen already, but steven luatua is no longer available as a lock, he has been shifted to the loose forward where he should rightly be.

this is a bit of a bummer for me, as i had luatua on my bench, i mean a another loosefoward option playing as ur second row???
no brainer for my team, he was the No1 lock in the foxsport comp last year with 426 points, if he was categorised as a loose forward, he would have been tied at 6th place with liam messam.

anyway, at least brodie retallick makes his way back into my team, but i doubt i will use him straight away with one of the matches of the year happening in rnd 2, chiefs v crusaders.

Thanks for the info.   The Luatua issue solves a problem for me.   I prefer him as a loosie for the purposes of selection.   That means that I can use two REAL SA locks in Du Toit and Etzebeth as locks in key matches  and concentrate on the BR selections where I have really got a few options to use in various circumstances.  Matter of fact I have 6 to play around with there = Luatua, Labuschagne, Ardie, Cane, Botha and Coetzee.

definitely NO McCaw in that list.

We are getting there - already 12 members in our league - but two members who joined the Classical League have not joined the Head to Head League as yet.

THEY ARE LEONARD AND THE SMILING ONE - IS THE LATTER CLOUDY or CANRUGB???????

Then Wardad and his kids have not joined as yet,   Neither has the member that did remarkably well in the RC - SHEZZA.   When the latter join up we would be up to 15 members - so 5 short of the membership in the RC.

AT LEAST 5 MORE MEMBERS NEEDED - WHAT ABOUT SHARKBOK, FREDDIE,  CHIPPO, SEB AND BOKLOGIC????

However we have just under 3 weeks to go to register - so there is still time to remind members of their "obligation" to fight the honourable "battles" ahead by joining the thinking cadres on this site.
