Aster scoring 5 runs in the first innings - he managed 2 runs in the second innings.

A great player in his prime and an excellent captain - who was wise in ending his career as a test player when timeously.

Wonder whether he did it with the Surrey contract in  mind?   He cannot make the big bucks in the IPL - where Kallis is set to make nearly R10 000 000 million this year with the other top earners being the dollowing for the six weeks tournament-

Steyn     -     R11 000 000

AB          -     R11 000 000

Faf         -     R  7 500 000

De Kock    -   R  6 000 000

Miller        -   R  6 000 000

Morne      -    R  5 500 000

Albie        -    R  4 000 000

All that for a six weeks tournament.  Even with the Rand value being low - that is nice money for such a short tournament.

Smith did not get an offer from any of the Indian franchises so he is missing out big time.  Other players - such as Duniny - were offered much less.

Graeme Smith did not get an offer from any of the IPL franchises because he did not take part in the IPL 2014 bid. Simples.

This is the list of players involved in the Auction.

As  understand the system not all players involved are up for auction, Players like AB and Dale was bot made available by their franchises and remain with them,   The franchises make available dot thee auction only those players where they think there might be a drop in value - but even then they can retain them by matching the sale price realized - which in fact happened in the case of Kallis.
The amounts quoted by me was what AB and Dale was paid last year - which would have been increased through mutual agreement - and in the other cases what prices were realized at the sake.
De Kock's price increased form R180 000 last year to R6 000 000 this year.  He was the big mover at the sale.
Smith left India - I think it was in 2012 - under a bit of a cloud and has not been involved in IPL last year.   The problem is that he in recent years was ineffective in the shorter versions of the game and he would not have gotten an offer if he was up for sale in any event.

By bloody computer keyboard needs cleaning badly - I always seem to mess up with F & G - so I will have to check the headings more carefully - since you cannot change or correct it afterwards.

Looks like it could well be the "F"ing n, b, l and m as well.

Well whatever the case with lack of keyboard prowess... The aussies ARE SMASHING THE SAFFAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seem to recall posting this prediction...

And as for Warner being 'average' as claimed by Saffex....

Averaging 90 odd in the test series is a pretty good 'average' - I think hes scored more runs than the first 3 saffa bats...

ahhaahahahahahahah good cricket - well played Aussies

I know the reds are going to have a bad year so I may as well take this chance whilst it presents...
