This lad needs to find a new position....wing or maybe even centre. He was out of his depth behind the scrum again.....and it's creeping into every aspect of his game. His tackling has deteriorated, he hardly ever tries to run with the ball and his kicking is atrocious. This guy is inherently a good rugby player.

Mozart I think there may be a rugby psychology problem here - he has all the physical requirements, but his reaction time seems to be slow and ineffective. It may be defective reading of the game as well. He was tried on the wing last year in the tests and was largely ineffective. He has the same defence problem on the wing as he has at scrummie. He decided to stick to scrummie in future - but if his problem is what I suspect it is - coaching will not remove the present deficiencies

His service to Morne was brilliant, but apart from that he has lost his attacking clout, I am not sure why given the most important aspect of his game is spot on. His service is second to none, but I just dont understand why we dont see the breaks.

His box kicks were fine but for one of them and one poor tackle is hardly an issue. Hougaard without doubt needs to stick to 9 and rediscover his mojo. He is not a wing and is not physical enough for centre.

Dave he has been trying to become a scrumhalf for two years....it's not happening. I saw some ordinary passes, one behind the backline and a few times he bungled getting the ball away. With the best will in the world I can't find this brilliant service.

Disagree 100% Moz, his service was crisp, accurate and spot on. Its better than any other 9 in SA. He is not trying to be a 9, he has played there all his life. One thing he is not and that is a wing. He has definately lost his mojo and I suspect that has everything to do with Meyer and Ludeke and their kick and chase game plans - its not Hougaard's style.

Hougaard two seasons ago was the best 9 in the game, he was the closest thing we had to Joost. You dont just lose that gift.

I had no issue with his game on Sat, his service was great, ceratinly better than Vermaaks, who's poor pass had Morne charged down.

The issue I did have with him, was not trusting his attacking instincts - there was a Hougaard try for the taking and he just passed the ball on. He is obviously not a confident player at the moment and just doing the basics

His service at minute 15 was hardly stellar. Dave I think you are a lone voice here.

Mojo????? … what mojo???

He’s never had any mojo to begin with..

Glad to see you’ve at least admitted that he doesn’t have any mojo.

Reckon Mozart duped you with the way he phrased his question. As usual, a little slow on the uptake, huh!!

Nice try in getting it back though ... but sadly your " crisp service" crap doesn't quite reverse the fact that he's "mojo-less" .... perhaps that's why he's in the habit of passing above, behind and at times we've even seen the ball bounce a few times before it reaches the intended recipient.

What other positions are there for the lad to try out? He's failed at scrummie, wing, outside center ... I gues the best position for him would be "left back in the change room" ... or perhaps the guy carrying the water bottle.

At least he won't have to worry about dissapointing his fan and costing his team yet another match.

Safex The "crisp service" part is where I differ from you - I am sad to say. There was on Saturday at least three passes where the ball bounced before it reached the recipient. On at least two occasions Hougaard hesitated before passing the ball. In previous games the position was similar - he got caught in possession more than he should have. After his problems last year - and in view of his comments that he is going to go all out to overcome deficiencies and become the top scrummie - I really was disappointed in the show he puts up this year. Some deficiencies h- like charge down kicks were not in evidence this year - but his service has not improved and his strategic kicking neither. At this stage he is more of a liability to his team than an asset. As priously stated I think it has to do more with his mind than his physicality. That is a very difficult problem that coaching is unlikely to fix up. In the final analysis it was not what Hougaard was four years ago - it is what he is now. Some young players go forward in development of their game as they grow older - Hougaard for some reason or another has gone backwards - he has not even stagnated - that would still have been acceptable. All in all - I cannot see how he is going to make the Springbok squad this year - taken into account his most recent performances.

Mike please don't start lying about his service, there were no passes that bounced before the recipient. I am happy to concede that he is not running with the ball as he should be and that kicking is not a strength, but its complete crap regarding his service which is the best of all the SA 9's by some distance and that is both left and right

Listen Stupid … so what your saying is that he’s not running with the ball (supposedly his strength) and he doesn’t have the necessary kicking skill set that a scrummy needs … right??

So what’s the point of chalking him up as the Bok 9?? He's useless ... cannot contribute ... at all.

Looks like the penny’s finally dropped, hey?? It's taken what ... a year???

Uh-Duh!!!!!!!!

You’re making progress, Stupid!!

You really crack me up … you know that?

CC - poor form man, family members are definitely off limits.

Saffex's son is obviously a quality player, especially if he plays with the same conviction his dad posts with !  Saffex is sometimes wrong, but never in doubt :)

Not sure what you girls are all crying about??

I'm merely pointing out how much of a liar Stupid is.

He told Mozart a few months back that his son was a 97kg prop who would smack Mozart into next month ... now he claims the same kid is a backline player.

I was just curious how this obese blob of his was doing in the backline??

It seems lying comes natural to him.

Yo Arsewipe ... don't flatter yourself. If you think being called that bothers me ... think again. You are not the first and you won't be the last either.

It usually comes about when arseholes like you and Stupid don't have a response to my posts.

Oimatey ... save the lecture, will you!!! Thanks a lot!!!

Guess he must be a hell of  crashball runner, huh???

Clean Cunt, we all know you are a racist, that's a given, but we also now know that you are a low life liar. This can easily be proved by asking Moz if I have EVER said my son was a prop, what a joke and weighing 97kg, yeah right..........what I did say was that he has played 9,10 and centre you lying scum

I see the parasitic bulle have signed Piet van Zyl. So Hougaards problems in finding a starting place at the bulle continue.

What a pity there wasnt a swop as a spell at the Cheetahs may have been the making of Hougaard.

Parasitic Bulls ? Considering that WP have signed Taute fom the Lions and are still after Elton, i think it odd that anyopne would say the Bulls are parasitic. Its the Modern era, get used to it.

Hougaard would not suit the cheetahs style of playing, but prehaps may learn something there.

Oh ... I see you've done a 180.

Do you even know what position he plays?

I guess he doesn't weight 97kg either.

Took you a year to make your mind up regarding HouGat ... guess we'll have to wait a little longer to see what position you've decided on this forum your son plays.

Probably have to take that with a pinch of salt as well.

Piece of shit!!!
