What do these two have incommon you may ask - aside from making bad career choices and playing for the sharks. Imagine for example if Frans had played for the Cheetahs and he had not played wing, flyhalf center and fullback. Lambie has been slightly more fortunate as he has only played flyhalf center and fullback.

I mention this poor player management as the point is I think these two are not playing to what appered to be their potential. Both hit the scene like bright stars in the firmament and now are simply okay. They apear to have gone backwards.

Both may simply need to have the sharks stop messing them about and focus on a speacialist postion. That however may not be all. Frans at 110 kg may need to lose 5 kgs and get back that footwork he used to show and that fair turn of speed. Lambie maybe finding Super15 rugby tough going - certainly he is less adventorous than before. I think he is best suited to flyhalf.

I do hope both these players regain top form but the sharks managment must do their part.

Any guppy commenting on this thread should make every effort to be sensible - if possible.

Thanks

I fully agree. The Sharks have already stuffed up Lambie. A year ago he was the prime no 10 in the country. He was way better than old boring square-head Morne Steyn. Now he will probably be on the bench to cover for flyhalf and fullback as a utility back. Watch what is going to happen to Frans Steyn.

We should not forget what the Sharks did to Pienaar as well. Same old story over and over again.

the unions are not to blame but rather the mixed messages that came from the national coaches on how to use this players. coaches feel they need to almost make a player into something that they are not meant for. like throwing a player into the deep end and hoping he will find his feat. but years back this was almost common practice. dont forget the way wp managed brent russel ext ext. this has been stopped to a certain extend by the depth of players that is coming through the system.

@bongani lambie is not stuffed up so stop trolling on this forum.

Well he is not everybody's number 1 flyhalf like a year ago anymore, and hasn't been for some time, has he?

well he is made into a 15 after pdv moved him there because they felt we were light on that front. to a extent he is a victim of his own talent. i am a huge pundit for players in specialist roles. so chopping and changing wont benefit any player over a period of time

I don't rate Lambie as a flyhalf, so it suites me just fine to have him at Fullback...a position where he looks much more comfortable.

Bambie is a better 15 than a 10.

i agree....also we dont have depth in sa at the jumper....joe peterson is a robot. just as much flair as a todler going down the mcdonalds slide in the play pen. zane is ok but not brilliant. to be fair he is also robotic. our very own terminator without the range of weapons and the other pretenders to the throne is nowhere near good enough so the logical choice must be lambie. the sharks biggest concern is that they have no backup to freddie so lambie is seen as such. how i would love so see a goosen in the sharks backline

Ah shame...the big, bad nasty Sharks mess their players around. Amazing that Frans decides to come back to the team after being treated so badly. As for Lambie, besides the "experts" here, which other real experts (read coaches) believe that his best position is 15 and not 10?

He wanted to sign with the Stormers but they didn't want him. They have JDV

Beeno

I think Lambie is better suited to 15 than to 10 - although he is a hell of a lot better than Morne at 10.   We gace a serious problem at full back whuich meant that he should play there for SA..

Insofar as Francois Steybn is concerned - he should trim down a bit and start practicing running.   He lost a lot of speed since 2007 and 2008.   He has become too muscle bound and can do with a loss of 5 kgs and an extra 2 kilometers per hour in the speed stakes.   He started off as full back for the Sharks - but was moved to 12 when De Villiers got injured.   A very good center - but he needs tow ork on his speed

Most of the changes were made on Springbok level - not on Sahrks level - get your facts right Beeno.

 Lets get the facts straight-

1. Ruan Piennaard allways played scrum half for the Sharks. It was only when the Sprigboks forced him to play flyhalf- did the sharks play him in the position. At the time Pienaar was the incumbent bok flyhalf.

2. Frans Steyn. He was playing flyhalf for the Sharks before being selected as a bok. His first test was at wing, then at fullback. It was the boks that changed his position from inside back to outside back.

3. Lambie has played many positions for the Sharks, all have been a sucess. More recently the Sharks favoured him as a fullback. However in the later PDV era - he became favoured as the bok flyhalf. He started the Sharks season as the flyhalf, but was later reveretd to what the Sharks thought his best position was- fulllback,

As with Pienaar- it was mostly national pressure that changed his postion. The Sharks allways tried to play Pienaar at scrum half. It was the Boks that moved Steyn all over the bacline.

These are the facts.

The Sharks have chosen Steyn in one position- at inside center- this is his best position. Lambie is now being favoured at fullback- his favoured position. If Pienaard returns to the Sharks- he will play scrum half.

Please lets get the facts straight- it was the pdv boks that were a stuff up moving players around. (Morne Steyn was playing fullback a few weeks before the world cup, with Lambie at flyhalf????)

Moving JP to outside center- has so far produced some results. Like Umaga who was initially a wing, then outside center, and eventually a test inside center- these changes can work.

It is mostly the boks that forced the changes- not the Sharks.

this post is uninformed and just bullying the sharks nothing more....if one look at the cold hard facts the sharks as always picked players accourding to what is the best for the national team and selectors. they look at the bigger picture.

just hope pienaar comes back to the sharks.
