Great move by the lad, he was going nowhere at the Bulls behind Serfontein. He has never had time to settle at the Bulls and we have not seen the best of him. He really impressed me when he played for the Baby Boks a year or two ago.

The ideal replacement for Ebersohn at 12.......just good to see us not lose him to the NH or Japan

Based on the way Jean shredded the kid, he's lucky to land on his feet.

Was never really impressed by him in the games I saw him playing, The Cheetahs were looking for a 12 - but is he really good enough?

He will thrive on the Cheetahs expansive game and with Goosen hopefully back, will get great distribution. Best of luck mate.

Nearly forgot Goosen and Venter played with each other in the JWC! So maybe they'll gel quicker than usual!

Jean beating him had nothing to do with a one on one miss, it was a good line run by Jean that had Venter off balance. Venter is a quality 12 and we will see that at the Cheetahs. I rate him highly

I read the article and must say that from a carer perspective Venter did the right thing. The Bulls are notoriously bad in center development. They ruined Sadie and Venter was given virtually no chances to play - partly due to injury I think Serfontein would benefit from moving to another franchise as well - he would be allowed to play his natural game and not turned into a battering ram - like the Bulls tried with him in a few games he played in.. Maybe the problem is playing next to Morne Steyn can be a severe handicap. Steyn played a shocker against the Stormers for instance. It is very hard to perform adequately under such circumstances. I think Saffex always had a good opinion of Venter and under proper management and coaching he could become a top player - something he would never achieve at he Bulls.

To complete the Cheetahs side, they need to find a No 5 lock, a 6 and a wing. Move Willie to 15 and find a wing. Well they do have one in Senatla, the Baby Bok and 7's flyer. Sadly they have lost Brussouw at 6. This is an impressive Cheetahs side: 15. Willie 14. Senatla 13. Sadie 12. F.Venter 11. Rhule 10. Goosen 9. v/Zyl 1. Nkanyane 2. Strauss 3. Coenie 4. de Jager 5. AN Other 6. AN Other 7. Labascagne 8. v/d Walt......they have some depth in Sarel, Smit, Lindeque, Adriaanse, Rossouw de Klerk and Prinsloo

Saffex I wrote something similar a few days ago. They need a few players to back up the squad. I would say they need another wing/full back, they have obtained Lindeque and Venter so that would help. another two locks, and at least one loosie. If they strengthen up those positions - they would be awesome next year when Goosen is back.

Former Springbok wing Tonderai Chavhanga has agreed a short-term deal with the Cheetahs for the upcoming Currie Cup, reports GARETH DUNCAN.

Chavhanga is on trail at the cheetahs at the moment. Ref: http://www.sarugbymag.co.za

Really stoked about Venter btw!! Just look at Sadie, how he's been playing since given the chance to roam free at the cheetahs!! Hope Venter will do the same, and with Goosen at 10 and venter at 12 sounds awesome!!
