With seemingly one in six kicks succeeding from beyond halfway.....these bombs have an expected value of half a point. The normal Morne penalty goes over 5 times in six and has an expected value of 2.5 points. Those kicks make sense....the bombs don't.

If we simply kicked for touch within 10 metres of the goal line, a lot of the time we get a penalty....or heaven forbid, a try. And even if we don't succeed possession is at leat 20 metres deeper......tilting things in our favour.

Forget the bombs , its lazy rugby......play the game. Reserve the bombs for the last minutes of a half or game, when they make more sense, given limited time

kicking ball possesion away in the modern day and age is criminal so i dont think "bomb" is never a great idea unless the player or team has a blatant weakness against it.
