Delande will ensure the Boks play mostly 12 man rugby. Grant WIlliams has been dropped to make way for the geriatrical Reinach. Van De Berg deserves some game time, but not at the expense of Williams.

I expected Nortje at 5, as he is the best lineout jumper in the team.

Lets look at the situation from the following perspective, The fact is that Erasmus has the means to evaluate actual performances and the not site BS spreading.

I previously refer to the fact that the Argentneds have a ery goof flyhalf and inside center attack - with pace as well That would expose the defense with Manie Libbok a defense liability and the slow witted and paced ndrey Esterhuzen becoming a potential liability as well.

If there is a loosie problem - and no backline injuries it is likely that Esterhuizen will be used as a loosie replacement like happened before,

Dud is back…just as I predicted. The rest of the side is actually decent…except Manie should be replaced by Pollard.

The unpredictable Dr Lucky is so predictable.

Dave

Who else in the squad can Erasmus use at full back with Fassie injured and nderperforming and Willie gone from the squad?

In any event the URC starts on Fiday and at least 9 players will be sent back to heir franchises to play in that tournment,

To my mind I h ink a player lie Green should be considered for the match in London. .

With Esternhuizen on the bench, it appears as though WIllemse will not get any game time at 12. (Unless Esterhuizen is played as a loose forward). Or perhaps DumbLande will be moved to loose forward.

Mike he could have played Sacha, Kolbe or Moodie at 15. Sacha would have been my choice with Manie at 10 and Pollard on the bench

Yaaay...DDA is back to ruin any attacking momentum anywhere in Durban on the weekend.

I hate that this guy is still being selected. Seriously, he was horrendous in the Eden Park match. AE was godlike in the Wellington game...

And how does AE get rewarded? By Rassie picking DDA ahead of him.

Why not start with Manie, Willemse at 12 and Zulu Boy at 15?

Ebenezer is back, RG still on the bench

Tank starting again

Wessels now cover hooker, last time it was prop

Musical chairs continue.

Yes, big mistake bringing DumbLande back into the fold. Libok at 10, Sasha at XV would have been a better option, and then perhaps shift him to fly-half later in the game - but that would mean shifting Willemse from 12 to 15 later in the game. A bit messy, like he did last week.

At least Bongi and Koch are not in the team

No midfield and 1/3 of a loose trio. The classic Erasmus model.

It should have been Sacha at 15, Willemse at 12, Manie at 10, vd Bergh or Williams at 9 and RG starting at 5 and Pollard on the bench

Willemse is far more effective as a playmaker stepping into the line, which makes fullback his natural home. Esterhuizen, by contrast, is the prototypical inside centre: built for power, creating the space with his varied skillset. Willemse is the one with the vision and pace to exploit that space.

The problem is Erasmus lacks the imagination to see the combinations and potential right in front of him. Under his rigid, autocratic game plan, it’s the players with genuine game-breaking ability who suffer most. Instead of unleashing them, he reduces them to cogs in a script that leaves their talent untapped.

Willemse makes Esterhuizen look like a pretender at 12

Rassie has missed a trick not continuing the centre pairing that started in Wellington

He should have temporarily moved Sacha to 15, retained Willemse at 12 and started the impressive Libbok at 10

He has yet again missed out on pairing Eben and RG - that call is my biggest bugbear

Ah Dawie, the self-appointed gatekeeper of the board. You’ve got two gears: “fuck off” and “doos,” and you drive them like a 1980s Toyota Corolla with no clutch. I’d leave if you ever managed a point worth escaping from, but as it stands, I’m getting far too much entertainment watching you trip over the same three words.

Dave, you don't need to answer this. It's for everybody else.

I've rewatched the Wellington game and I can't think of a better performance by a Bok 12 in recent memory than what we saw from Esterhuizen.

It really was perfection. Not a single bad decision, not a single stifling of momentum, perfect awareness of when to use grunt and when to put in the effort to keep momentum going and excellent keeping up with play.

I'm actually starting to believe that Rassie knows how much better AE is than DDA and he's using him in a more reserved way and putting more responsibility on him RE the hybrid thing, because he knows that AE can handle a lot more and os far more versatile. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.

Its a Real dumb move from Erasmus to bring in Dud instead of keeping AE at 12. Especially after the Wellington performance.

Also Wilco again being used as a impact player? Whatever happened with starting with Our best possible team??

Sorry, Draad...

1) was that performance by AE in Wellington one of the best we've seen from a Bok 12 in a very long time?

2) do you agree that perhaps Rassie is using AE more sparingly because he sees him as of higher value than DDA

AE in Wellington was good nothing special, nothing creative - it was his usual power playing

Willemse on the other hand was brilliant at 12 - creative and strong - the perfect balance of power and creativity. The perfect blueprint for a test 12

Thank Goodness that Dave and CM are not Springbok selectors.

Wasting Sacha the best #10 (at present) and make him the fullback #15, just to have useless Manie as the #10.

Really.

Dave,

You are the most foul -mouthed, Pig-Headed, and uncouth individual on this platform lacking in everything that is the worst example of a South African immigrant, Springbok supporter and poor example to all who frequent this rugby forum.

Try elevating your comments and show all that you are a proud ex SA blogger who loves the game and a strong supporter of the Springboks.

I am sure that nobody on this forum doubts your knowledge and concerns about Springbok selections but just be civil and pass comments in a positive form on all postings so that we can read them and not skip them.

Looking forward to your next posting on the Springboks.

Enjoy the rest of your day or night and enjoy watching the game against the Pumas on Saturday.

Cheers and thanks.

Arthur.
