Funny that Brummer and Piet van Zyl brought the Bok A's back...

....hardly guys that have had much support from the cognoscenti on here. Whereas a guy like Venter has received almost universal approval....but sadly this from the match report highlights a problem all too apparent in Super rugby:
Just as South Africa 'A' thought they were putting something together through Travis Ismaiel they were ripped open again, Robson showing remarkable patience and footwork to dance rings around Venter for England's third Try.

When will we learn these slow stepping centres are cannon  fodder for the better players out there. This applied to Wynand Olivier and it applies to Stepfontein and certainly to Venter.

 There was a gaping hole there and April may be a nice prospect but his experience is lacking as are some defending skills.  Brummer and Piet - although probably not really world-class made a difference.
To be honest, some of the "replacements" were far better than the starting players.
To this one must add the amount of time the players had to practice and combine in a team.  Probably evident in the way they played better as the game progressed.
I am of the opinion that they could have won if some of the replacements were in the starting line-up.  There were far to many missed tackles and the protection/retention of own ball was non existent.
They should be much better next time around - I hope!

 Sure slow stepping centers are no good.   Same as fast non-defending players and the center pairing is no good.   Why Van Rensburg - the first choice Lions center - is not there only the politicos can answer.   I am afraid that April - brought in as third choice cover for the Sharks flyhalf  is also no good.   The moment he kicked a ball over the tryline with virtually the whole team outside of him waiting for the ball - indicates a non-thinking player in the mould of past Springbok flyhalfs.   April was rejected by the Lions and then somehow the Sharks got him - am afraid he is worst than Brummer - which says a lot. 

 Very concerning to see that the likes of Brummer and van Zyl making a difference. 
They are both poor rugby players and ye t an improvement on those selected to start.
