Hurricanes - Highlanders game

As expected by me the Hurricanes won this game - but the game was advertisement what rugby should not be - handling errors and poor passing galore.   The Hurricanes Tight 5 was pathetic, while their backline (bar Jordie Barrett) was very good,  The Highlanders forwards were far better than - but their backline is a joke.   To put  matter in perspective - the Highlanders forwards was beaten hollow by the Rebels and the fact that they were superior against the Hurricanes raises serious question marks about the Hurricane forwards.

Rebels -  Brumbies game

Another correct forecast by me.   The Brumbies tried their utmost in the first half and they choked badly on the second half.   Are they fit enough to last through a game.   An interesting game non-the-less unfortunately blemished by even more errors than those made by the Horricanes and Highlanders in their match,   I till think the Rebels is the only really competitive team in Australia - they beat the Highlanders and that will not be the only NZ teams they will beat this year,

Crusaders -  Chief game

The fact is the Chiefs are such a poor team anybody can  beat them - the score could have even worse if too many of the Crusaders players did not develop white line fever,  Nothi8ng to learn from this game - it was a disgrace at best.

Blues - Sunwolves game

The fact is that the Blues forwards were too good for the Sunwolves,  but I was not really impressed by their 10 and 12,   Two many good balls went astray.   Rieko Ioane was supreme.   Glad I kept him in my Fantasy teams after three rounds of non-descript performances.   The team can do much better than they did thus far - but they have to get their 10 and 12 probllems solved.

Waratahs -  Refs game

If this game is thE reflection of rugby in Australia. the gaame really proved how hopeless the situation was in general     After the reasonable performances of the Reds against the Highlanders and the Crusaders I and the near disaster of the Waratahs against the Sunwolves I was hopeful that the Reds can show an improvement in Aussie Rugby.   They were pathetic to say the least and even though the Wartaahs won the game they were pathetic as well.

The Brumbies are the biggest chokers in this year's tournament. They were up by plenty at half-time and were also 15 men vs 13 at one stage and still managed to blow it.

... to think I signed Laumape only to replace him with Kuridrani ... I'm kicking my ass as we speak ...

Cloudy

Guess what - I gave the Hurricanes to beat the Highlanders - and I also rated the Blues to beat the Sunwolves.   Have given up on the Chiefs though.   They have to play the  Crusaders tomorrow,, the Hurricanes in Round 5 and the Bulls in round 6,  Don't think they will win any of those three games.

Essentially the Blues is a better team than they were last year.   They are poor travelers though and I am afraid they saddled themselves with both Nonu and SBW - great players of the past - but on a slippery path going downhill while ageing.

In any event they came very close to beating the Crusaders in Round 1 and did not do too bad at all against the Jaguares - their only bad loss was against the Sharks,  They need only a few players to be tops in performance and I am sure next year they will get some quality youngsters to fill the gaps.

Disagree totally on you opinion of the Crusaders game, Crusaders played with flair, precision and skill.

Yes the Chiefs are a poor rabble but that doesn' t diminish the skill level of the Crusaders.

Also taking into account it wasn't our full stregnth side and its still early in the season I think every other team has decided that they are playing for 2nd.

Sorry

I was referring to the Chiefs being pathetic  - as is normal this year - and also the fact that some Crusaders players did not pass balls when they should have.   I call that white line fever - which in many ways can be a negative.

The vein is not found because of one player - unfortunately and that is SBW,   He is totally ineffective at 12 - cut him out and Ioane can score tries.

How accurate can one get - I gave the Blues a win by 7 points and they won by 8.   Unfortunately I think that SBW messed  up more than he created.

Off the bottom three ratings by getting 5 points.   The Chiefs remains at no 15.
