Why do India refuse to let go of Laxman and Dravid?
THey have a dearth of talent waiting in the wings.
Kohli, Sharma, Panday.... all brilliant batsman but they are being denied by 2 people old enought to be Ghandis children.
Also, Harbajhan to me is one of the best spinners of the last decade. Is he injured??? Or why isnt he playing?
India feel that their faithful servants should decide their own fate.I agree they were great,but well past their sell by date.Dravid has been bowled 7 out of last 8 innings.Their younger batsmen(Raina,Kohli) have been exposed to too much T20 and one dayers that they don't have the patience to play a long test innings.I think Harbhajan is in disrepute with the Indian cricket board,he is quite outspoken.

Its the old story of hanging on too long. Sentiment plays a big role. I also note the fact that OZ is on the rise with their fast bowling etc.
We can ask the same about hanging onto usless players like Robin Peterson and Ontong......why these 2 have ever played a single match for SA is beyond me......the biggest joke now is that Peterson is in the test squad!!
Another player I dont rate is Avril Pietersen the test opening bat - he is crap. We have an aging side, so its about bloody time we started blooding some youngsters - JP Duimy needs to be invested in at test level and we need the likes of Dean Elgar and Rilee Rossouw brought into the fold

Speaking of the under 19 team... Mr Q de Kock to replace Bouch. He looks awesome. Ive watched him bat quite a bit.
I think Sreesanth deserved his klap.Oz do have a lot of good fast bowlers coming through,maybe still missing a great spinner for the subcontinent wickets.This wade character that played keeper for them should fill Haddin's shoes.

Avril Petersen has been quite successful in tests. I think he's played like 10 tests at an average of 37.
Give him more opportunities and that average will increas.
I agree abour Robbie Pietersen though. He did a great job at the CWC, but he def isnt test quality. I feel for "Paris" (Paul Harris).

Avro Pietersen or whatever his name is........the guy is 32 and just does not look like a quality bat........Chipo his average wont improve as he lacks quality. We need to bring Elgar in to open the batting and have the likes of Duimny or Rossouw at 6. Agreed on de Kock to replace Bouch, he looks a class act - saw him playing for the SA U19's last season against England

Yeah, he's made such an impression on me, I don't even know his name!!!!! Kirsten needs to start investing and blooding some young bats......our bats are all 30 plus or close, with AB being our youngest at 27......this is not healthy........Smith, Rudolph, Kallis, Pietersen and Bouch are all 30 plus and Amla is close at 28. We do not have the balance right at all. We have class acts in Smith, Amla, Kallis and AB who give us class and experience, the other 2 top order bats need to be youngsters - look no further than Elgar, JP and Rossouw. A replacement for Bouch is imperative and he must be a keeper/bat.
Our bowlers are sorted in Steyn, Morkel, Philander, de Lange, Tsotsobe, Parnell and Tahir.......we need to sort the bats out now......invest in the youth, the future.......why on earth they brought old boys back like Rudolph and Pietersen is beyond me, its short sighted to say the least

We are falling behind Oz in the bowling department in this regard,say if we've got one or two promiing quicks coming through they have miraculously produced four or five no sweat at all.
I agree we're not blooding youngsters quick enough, some of those already mentioned must go but I think they should be looking at rotating Boucher with Quinton De Kock(spelling right?) and we need to quicksmart find a replacement for Kallis, now, before he retires.

What are you talking about? Wev'e got the best attack in world cricket by a countree mile, most of them just coming of age or youngsters. Ozz will give there front teeth to sport an attack of the same class as ours. India is just plain kak atm. When we played ozz, it was our first test in a years time. I'm sure if we played zim beforehand, ozz would have gone down like a bunji jumper without the cord...or some heavy thing...whatever. (They lost to NZ at home... duh!)
Tend to agree, we have the 2 best pace bowlers by some stretch in Steyn and Morkel, we have handy back-ups in Tsotsobe, Philander, Parnell and a great find in de Lange........I'd take our lot over Siddle, Hilf, Johnson, Cummings etc anyday
