Dave I assume you mean Kitshoff at 1. The team is fine in so far as it goes. But as we saw with Mvovo on Saturday, allowing Ioane to offload in a try scoring position....these young chaps need to be gradually fed into the team. As for Strauss, I rather boringly have to repeat myself, I'm not even sure he is good enough to be effective in the S15, let alone tests.

My advice, pick the few really promissing ones like Kitshoff, Etzebeth and Goosen, and have them spend some time on the Bok bench against England.

Having great depth of talent is not the biggest factor. How you introduce new players to the team is. Unfortunately we have been very poor over the last four years at doing this. Of all the new talent on the scene only a few genuinely strike me as potential Bok players. Players like Etzebeth, Kitschoff, Kolisi and Goosen will require a very close examination until June.

Mvovo in particular is a talented player that is not pulling his weight. He is intent on hugging the touchline waiting to be put away. Look how Digby came in-field for two very lethal breaks in the first half. He is looking for work and adding potency to the Reds; by contrast Mvovo is lazy and too passive. He is not dominating his wing on defence and this is looking like a habit he has slipped into. Plumtree needs to pull his finger out and do something about it now.

we have to pin  a lot of hope on Meyer. This guy built up the bulle from being the laughing stock of the super comp season by season to winning it.  I cannot believe he is not a good coach who will do things right for the most part.

Absolutely, ease in  the new young players.  Choose your best payers in a position and if one of these is a youngster ease him in carefully. Who do you wan to be ready in the next 4 years. What is the plan to get them there.

I am glad Meyer has said the objective is to win each test but he can do both these things and in fact must. A rugby team needs renewal.

I agree with the sentiments above. We have two new boks in Lambie & Hougaard and also Jantjies (sort of). However, we need to gradually inject young blood from the touchline such as Goosen, Kolisi, Etzebeth (especially Etzebeth) and maybe Kitshoff, although it may be a year too early (as a front-rower).

I'm really excited about Etzebeth and Kitshoff and also Kolisi, but then, SA has always had tremendous loosies so next year he may be old news. Deyzel & Duane are loosies who have had limited exposure to the Bok squad and oh yeah, let's not forget about Josh Strauss...

Before any of these loosies can make it they have to stake their claim above Brussouw, Burger, Juan Smith, Spies, Kankowski & Alberts.

Nice post Again.....in the pack the young lion has to see off the old Lion. I can't see Kolisi or Strauss seeing off Brussouw, Juan and Schalk just yet.  But this Marcel Coetzee is impressive ....a real competitor.

Jantjies isn't test material and neither is Strauss. What has JJ Engelbrecht done to deserve a Bok spot?

Denny this is not a Bok side, its a Bok A side. Jantjies has Bok written all over him, he will definately be a Bok, good old Morne's days are numbered.

Moz, this side had very little to do with the Bok side, it's a young Bok A side I compiled. Agreed some of these youngsters need to be introduced into the Bok fold - some to start like Lambie and others like Kitshoff, Eztebeth, Coetzee, Taute, Jantjies and Goosen to be introduced from the bench although I'd be tempted to start Taute, Jantjies, Coetzee and Etzebeth

i like this discussion - was against the BOK team for WC 2011 be4cause there were too many rugby geriatrics in the team playing on reputation - not performance.    I believe that there is a lot of younger talented players around - but must say some of them are THE REAL DEAL.   I think ultimately the best flyhalf in the making is Goosen - Jantjies is too much like Meyer - a good kicker but  no playmaker.

The real deal - I think Kittshof and Etzebeth are probably the two with virtually immediate chances - given the fact that we need locks and props.   At lock I would pick Bekker and Etzebeth.   By the way Etzebeth is in fact Hungarian for Elizabeth - so somewhere in the remote past is Hungarian ancestry.    That would in rugby terms make him something like Atilla the Hun.

For the first time in years you can see the talent really coming through and not sidelined by too many over thirties - we must just make sure we use the talent correctly.   There are enough foreign teams waiting to poach players - the POMS, the Aussies and a few others.   SA players playing in other competitions making a massive contribution have been or are Francois Steyn and Louw - hopefully they would still qualify for SA selection.

I see Fourie Du Preez also wants to play for the Springboks - that would be a backward move.  Hope Meyer does not favour his Blue Bull past aged stalwarts - that would drive youngsters away from SA.

Quite so ou maaik, I also thought lardy and voctoria etc were not our best. Certainly Bissie and the Boks got a raw deal re the geriatrics who clung to power.

I would not have thought though that there was any resemblance between Goosen and Meyer! Surely you mean Morne?  Janjtjies of course is a fine playmaker  and King Carlos has put in some excellent work with the youngster in this regard. hence the attacking flair of theLiuons and their missing his spark due to injury.

I also think FouDu Preez should not expect to walk back into the Bok mix - he will need to earn a spot.

Is it a year too early for Goosen, Etzebeth and Kitshoff?  Perhaps they should be eased into test rugby gently

Bismarck brought two strong carries out wide and one big tackle throughout the last year and half for the Boks. Very overrated, even uselessat times. I watched that Shaks/Reds game again and had a laugh at all his groupies. It was funny how he got skinned and dumped early on and then went missing in action, hiding behind each ruck. Not where your hooker is supposed to be stationed! Smit offered the hard yards that Bismarck doesn't have the courage, intelligence or ability to produce. One or two contributions at the breakdown last week and it was back to the same song sheet, prattling away like a spluttering canary. Ou Bismarck, another product of media hype.

The Boks will never win a test agains the other top 3 test sides with Jantjies in the first 15. Mark my words.

Your words are marked Draad. If Janjtes developes a better tactical boot  he could do well. Have to see how these youngsters progress.

I hope the Cheetahs do not overplay Goosen. Give Sias game time Naka.

Thw writing was on the wall in his Barbarians capitulation. They targetted him and he had nothing. He likes to play a little more towards the gainline but without the physique to back that up he cannot ever last. He doesn't have it in him to be a tactical player and his decision making still poor. Nothing at all world class about him.

I have to say I sort of agree with DbDraad, not sure Jantjies is test material. He is a good option to have as backup if your first and second ouens are out injured though.

Wow what a laugh, Jantjies not being test material - what bloody rugby you clowns been watching? No doubt Morne in your eyes is the answer for the Boks at 10???????????

Jantjies is a real rugby player, one that has all those silky skills - something Morne can only dream about. Jantjies excites me and its only a matter of time before we see the end of Morne and Jantjies taking Bok rugby to another level.......only once we have Jantjies at 10, will we see Frans, Taute and Sadie blossom on attack
