Lol...it's not really what I had in mind...clean waters, mountains and wilderness, but the cats might enjoy this...at least he caught their supper which is something I can't always guarantee

 Wotcher after Seb ,they have Mr Speckles down your way ? Summer there eh ? Go the Caddis larvae imitation I reckon ,the one that look s a wee bit like a umm "tube with hairs at one end " if memory serves .Tight lines !

Hi Wardaddy...we do have "speckles" (trout) but not anywhere like NZ. No, it's winter here. Can only fish dams and lakes...in winter, streams and rivers (in delegated sections) only from 1st Sept to end of May. It's forbidden to disturb trout when they're nesting...in the winter months... they can only do it is rivers Dams have to be stocked with young uns.

Caught zilch but enjoyed the day...there's more to it than catching everytime...the nature, the peace...anyway I release most of them and only keep the odd one for the pan.

 

 Me uncle showed me how to debone a trout using a few well placed cuts and a milk bottle ,the bones all end up in the bottle weird as that .I grew up as a wee lad by the mighty Waikato then the even better [for trout ] Tongarriro river when we moved to Turangi .Plenty of Rainbows in the Tongarriro ,all sourced in the 19th century from the Russian River in California .Brownies in Lake Maraetai between the dams in my home town .As they say the worst days fishing beats the best days working !
