If it was me, I'd start a transformation process for the 2024 Rugby Championship. (By transformation I mean the word "transformation" in its normal sense, not the bullshit word used to describe racism in SA sport . . . but more on that later.
Rassie has picked his RWC team for the series against Ireland and I can accept that, I think he's making a statement here and so far he's proving it, but there must be some rebuilding and it must come soon.
So - again - if it was me, the team/squad I'd pick for the upcoming Rugby Championship is as follows:
15 Aphelele Fassi (Willie won't be at next RWC. Fassi is a dangerous runner, brilliant in the air and he's a black African)14 Cheslin Kolbe (No brainer)13 Lukhanyo Am (No brainer. Jesse Kriel can be a very able backup for now)12 Damian Willemse (Maybe not his absolute best position this is where I would use him. It's time to move on from DDA and the baggage he brings. AE on the bench or in the squad for cover)11 Kurt Lee Arendse (No brainer . . . but Edwill definitely showed he can fill in for this jersey)10 Sacha FM (Worth an investment I think. He looks the goods. Pollard would be good option to have off the bench)9 Faf de Klerk (Thought about starting Grant Williams but will stick with Faf for continuity)8 Evan Roos (If the Roos-bashers out there would prefer Cameron Hanekom I won't complain too loudly) Both excellent prospects)7 PSdT (Should still be good for next RWC. Back him up with Elrigh Louw or any number of excellent flank options we have available)6 Siya Kolisi (C) (Not going to spend too much time justifying this. As much as I'd love to give this jersey to Evan Roos and retread him as a fetcher - and make room for Hanekom at #8 - Siya may not be the ideal openside flanker but he makes up for that with the sense of national unity he inspires. Case closed)5 RG Snyman (It's time)4 Eben Etzebeth (May not be at next RWC but I'll play him as long as I have him)3 Vincent Koch (Or Wilco Louw. Don't mind which one starts)2 Bongi Mbonambi (Marx could start but Bongi's throwing still better. Plenty good young hookers coming through to challenge these two)1 Ox Nche (No brainer)
16 Malcolm Marx17 Gerhard Steenekamp18 Wilco Louw19 Jason Jenkins (Tough choice. Plenty of other candidates with a case)20 Cameron Hanekom (If fit, otherwise any one of Elrigh Louw, Ben-Jason Dixon, a Du Preez twin or a Tsituka brother)21 Grant Williams22 Handre Pollard23 Canan Moodie
My extended squad would include Willie le Roux, Edwill van der Merwe, Jesse Kriel, Siya Masuku, Krappies van den Berg and a wide choice of excellent forwards, some of whom I mentioned above.

Good to see you making an in depth rugby post Rooi.
...and I agree on almost all your points.
Even on RG, maybe, I dunno...but don't tell Dave that :):):)

Kolbe 33, AM 33, AE 33, Pollard 33, Jessica 33, Marx 32 and Snyman 32 can maybe still make it, depending on there physical Condition at that stage…Wilco off Course at 32 is our prime Candidate at 3, with ox or the Tank Thomas at loose head…..the rest of the older core mentioned here, is pushing grandpa status in Rugby terms and should not be considered!!….that would just be farming backwards given our new Form Young guns coming thru…..I sincerely hope that Tassels builds mostly new!!!

I’m sure you have mixed 12 and 13 up.
Surely you want Am at 12 and Willemse at 13?

"Surely you want Am at 12 and Willemse at 13?"
Que?
Willemse has played for his province at inside centre while Lukhanyo Am has played all his 36 test matches at outside centre. Why would I want to play both of them in unfamiliar positions?

Haha of course training twice as much is nonsense. The guys train exactly the right amount. There are a ton of factors to consider in working out how much a pro should train.
Simply doubling the amount, or even training "more", is likely the opposite of what actually happens.
"Hey Jean, we are running 20km."
"Sharp, I'll just run 40km, because you know I have to train twice as hard now and being older means I'm far less likely to break down...cos that's how age works, obviously. Also don't worry about me, because Fourie is running 500km...he already started last week and is somewhere in the Karoo at the moment."

I'm personally just jousting with Mike a little.
Never been nasty to the toppie.
...though he has by default referred to me shit for brains, BSter, and more...
No harm or malice in it really, Draad.
