and his Brumbies end in style, getting thumped by the Blues. At least Jake gets to keep his record intact, which sits at 62%.
That one loss could potentially see them out of the top 6, if Reds, Bulls and Sharks pick up 5 points today - ouch

I have had to eat too much humble pie this weekend. I have been saying how good Jake is, and now this loss. And I have also been saying the Stormers lack of bonus points would come back to bite them, and then the Cheifs lose and all but hand the Stormers the number one spot. Don't I just feel like a complete doos! I guess my saving grace is that Jake and the Brumbies still achieved more than what was expected of them, but damn, that still doesn't do much for my predictive self confidence!
Eish!!!
I dont rate Jake so this was about par - they have beaten the bottom of the table sides and lost to all the big boys this season, including to the Reds twice. I think the only good side they beat was the Canes
I still give credit to Jake and his coaching staff for taking this young Brumbies squad to a position where they could possibly reach the playoffs, irrespective of their loss today. I look back to the beginning of the season and I would never have given the Brumbies half a chance of going so far, so well done Jake and the Brumbies...
Yes well done Jake!! Ou snapster is getting it all wrong again. Anyone with any sensse would understand the Brumbies have had agood season with a relatively no name side.
Losing to a Blues team at home is no disgrace. Jake did an outstanding job with limited talent.
Bye Bye JAKE and the Brumbies - love it
Fact is he did stuff all the Brumbies beat bottom of the log sides and lost to all the big guns. All the sides have lost their stars and most of the S15 sides are made up of new players.
Good old Jake showed his true form - he is nothing, average coach at best
Jake makes the semi's of the toughest provincial rugby competition in the world in his first season in charge and he's supposedly done nothing, Stuart Lancaster goes 0/3 against the Boks and Dave starts mastrubating furiously....go figure
Um dingbat you will find your beloved Jake's side will not be in the semi's sniff, sniff
3/0 vs England wow were you away for the 3rd test??
Sorry did England win that 3rd test? Pretty sure they were 0 wins for 3 starts. Seems drawing a test with the Boks elevates you to coaching greatness but winning a world cup doesn't. No matter you're farting against thunder on the issue anyways
No pooh, you will find it was 2/0 to the Boks against England. For the record I dont think Lancaster is great, I dont know much about him - what I can say is that he came up trumps against the Boks at home, who lets face it given our talent, should have wiped the floor with that England side.
As for Jake, poor man showed his true form slipping from 3rd on the table to 7th in a single day - poor old Jake, my heart bleeds for him
And I'm sure his heart buleeds for you Dave....alone in your little wooden shack.
I have a feeling Jake is the one bleeding right now - I am smiling, for I keep telling you so......the guy is average and has the personality of a wooden shack.
I just find it perverse how you lot salivate over this bloke.......some much is made out of nothing
Coming from a guy who salivated over Lancaster, that's a bit rich.
Nope, I just said Lancaster came up trumps against us and you know it. He did his homework and had our destructive forwards felled at the ankles. I know very little of the man, but his performance in that series impressed me. We should have put 20 over England in each test.
A draw in a dead rubber is coming up trumps? What is a World Cup then?
I am not comparing Jake to Lancaster, you are. I dont rate Jake.......I know very little about Lancaster, but he did impress me against our boys
Can't help but draw a comparison when you're impressed by a foreign coach who's only achievement is a dead rubber draw but don't rate your national coach who won you a World Cup, baffling.
How many more times do we need to put Jakes achievements into perspective. His record leading up to the WC was dismal, so much so that he nearly got sacked. A great squad, Eddie Jones and a much easier route the final saved Jakes arse.
His overall record is crap against the major sides but for England. 25% against France, 33% against NZ, 50% against Oz and Ireland - that is not the mark of a good coach. These results over 4 years define Jake as a national coach, a WC win does not.
Yeah and Lancaster's record is easily more impressive....
Ah yes, detract from the real issue at hand by making this a conversation about Stuart Lancaster.
There has been a number of topics posted on here waxing lyrical about Jake White and the Brumbies success...the issue at hand is that " success " hasn't actually come to fruition, has it ? Even though poi-e seems to think the Brumbies have qualified for the Play Offs, the sad fact of the matter is, they have not.
If the Jake worshippers want to try and spin their way out of the facts, they can try. But the reality of the situation is that the team who have led the very poor Australian Conference for a number of weeks, have now ended the Season in 7th place and in the process, as Saffex rightly, points out, have lost to the very poor Blues side today.
It has nothing to do with Stuart Lancaster, or England...and, just for the record, Saffex does not rate Lancaster highly nor England for that matter. I should know, we have many discussions about the faults and failings of my team.
nothing more satisfying than to see Jake red in the face and Gregan sheepishly looking on in the background. They were found out big time! Did you see that touch judge trying to convince the ref that the ball had gone over the dead ball line LOL too funny - if the game had hung in the balance, it would have been a Home Town decision by that Touch Judge - he is like a sleeper mole waiting to be activated at the opportune moment.

Well Becs lets have a look shall we:
Brumbies: 15 Jesse Mogg, 14 Henry Speight, 13 Andrew Smith, 12 Pat McCabe, 11 Joe Tomane, 10 Zack Holmes, 9 Nic White, 8 Ben Mowen (c), 7 Michael Hooper, 6 Peter Kimlin, 5 Sam Carter, 4 Scott Fardy, 3 Dan Palmer, 2 Stephen Moore, 1 Ben Alexander.
Australia: 15 Kurtley Beale, 14 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 13 Rob Horne, 12 Pat McCabe, 11 Digby Ioane, 10 Berrick Barnes, 9 Will Genia, 8 Wycliff Palu, 7 David Pocock (c), 6 Scott Higginbotham, 5 Nathan Sharpe, 4 Sitaleki Timani, 3 Sekope Kepu, 2 Tatafu Polota Nau, 1 Benn Robinson.
Yep we have one Brumbies player as an Aussie starter in their last test. Now anybody with half a brain would consequently say, the Brumbies are a team with few stars and anybody who could coach them into strong contention for a play-off spot was doing a hell of a job. Evidently you don't have half a brain.
@Becs ummm no, just trying to get to the bottom of how someone can have soo little respect for a world cup winning coach yet respect a coach from a coach who's achieved nothing at international and club level...Jake finishes in his first year in charge on the same number of points as the current S15 title holders with a bare bones team, I'd say that's an achievement right there...
Jake has won a world cup, that's worthy of respect no matter what petty little spin you put on it.
Pooh, Becs has it spot on - Jake is an average coach, his record speaks for itself. A WC does not define him. Respect my arse. Moz used the Oz test side as an example - lets do the same with the Stormers who topped the log. They had all of 3 Boks in their original side - Habana, Jean and Etzebeth.
Get this into your head, no comment has been made on Lancaster as a coach in general, what has been said is that he did a good job against our boys - FACT
Becs in 'I agree with Dave' shock, I'm sure Jake cries himself to sleep that you and Becs don't rate him, but the truth is you're about the only people on the face of the earth that share this opinion, misery loves company much?
Lancaster lost the series.....let me repeat that a few times......lost, lost , lost , lost , lost and lost.
He did not do a good job......let me repeat that a few times.......not, not, not not and not.
The object is to win not to lose........let me repeat that a few times.........to win, to win, to win, to win and to win.
Is it sinking in......in, in , in?
Moz given your take on the English side, did you expect them to lose by 5, 9 and draw the last one?
Pooh I thought you were a Kiwi, why such a love for Jake.
I think you will find that in this chain of posts alone, there is a poster other than myself and Becs that does not rate Jake, so bang goes your theory.
I dont know anyone up here that rates Jake, they see him for what his was, not the fact that he won a WC
Jakes best achievement was winning the 1st tri-nations in 2004 that he was coach. This was after he inherited the Rodoelf Straulie era of eating live chickens at Camp Staalstraad.
Winning the Worldcup was less because- South Africa only played average teams the whole tournament- England twice, Fiji, etc etc.
They did not play the All Blacks, Australia, French- or even the Welsh or Irish. bryan habana was also in the form of his life.
He has done quite well with the Brumbies no name brands- but he did not make the finals. A valid point made by Saffex is the conference system gave them a favourable draw and they lost to all the best teams.
However the next 2 seasons will be interesting - if they can get better players with more depth. This will be the test
Oh really I just see Hakwa who was satisifed that the Brumbies lost. To be honest I didn't think much of Jake and I used to by into the school of thought that Eddie Jones got the best out of the Boks at the 07 world cup. This season has changed my mind. Objectively speaking he's won an Under 21 world cup, a tri-nations title, a rugby world cup and handed the Springboks to his successor in a better state that he inherited. 'Better' coaches will never compile such a resume. Another clue is that he was well regarded by the players he coached.
His efforts with the Brumbies this year is probably what impressed me the most, there was undoubtedly better quality at the 'Tahs and Reds and but for one slip up at home would've made the Semis, I believe ACT will be very happy with the return the've got in their investment in Jake White, by all accounts he's set systems up in Canberra now that will see them in very good stead in the next few seasons.
The fact that Jake was considered for the England role would suggest there are more than a few at HQ that rate JW also.
Actually its common knowledge here that Jake was never in the picture for the England job......it was always between Lancaster and Mallett.
I didn't rate Jake then and nor do I now
Really, care to name your sources at Twikkers?
Clearly you are in close contact with the " Great Jake " yourself, Poi-e, so he can give you the in's and out's of how every team in the world is in thrall to his talents and wants to give him a job. Or is it that you just believe this man who seems to be a master self publicist and the gullible believe every word he says ?
When he was so blatantly telling the world that he was more or less the top candidate for the England job, it transpired that he had not even been approached. As it stood, he was further down the pecking order than John Kirwan. By the time he so graciously removed himself from the race and pledged his undying loyalty to the Brumbies, the position was a two horse race between Stuart Lancaster and Nick Mallett. And we all know how that turned out, don't we ?
The trick is to live in the real world, not the fantasy of Jake's making.
No source needed pooh, he was never in the picture - only in his eyes he was
@Becs, because I post a few opinions and facts on JW I must know him personally?? Think you're drawing a rather long bow there - no it's called google, you should try it sometime. Fact is unless you can find a source with Jake saying he's the top candidate you should probably STFU, as you're merely speculating, don't pass it off as fact
He was approached for the role, that's all, so clearly one of your countrymen at HQ rated his talents highly enough to shortlist him...ouch.
