But can they sustain it. Amazing watching the Pom scrum putting one over Ireland, Cole and Genge….you can’t be serious!

Ireland’s defense was quite poor today…a lot of straightforward missed tackles. Hard to see how they beat the Boks at home.

What a stupid kick from Murray with 90 seconds left!

It's lonely at the top...good to see Ireland can be beaten by the likes of the Poms...kinda put the Poms semi vs the Boks in a different perspective...Ireland’s tour to South Africa is going to be epic...

2 results in the 6N which went against the expectations...good thing for the competition. ...Frogs must be a little bit worried?

That was a very good performance by England yesterday, they showed nothing like that at the world cup.

Ireland’s tour to South Africa is going to be epic.

Yeah looking forward to it.

Yeah great results for the 6 Nations. Frogs should beat Wales. Be interesting to see if England can maintain that performance against France away from home.

About as much as Scotland beating the Poms or the Poms scraping through against Italy puts anything in perspective, Draad.

Yeah but they came good against us in the semi and them beating a very good Irish side yesterday confirms to me they are a more than handy side Those players are good on paper but new coach means time is needed - they are starting to look like a team that knows what it’s doing They looked good against Ireland and Ireland showed their class hanging in when they were the weaker side on the day

They had a good first half converting pressure into points - they had a first half lead thanks to putting in their best performance in the last 12 months

Point being, they are a good team who've been under performing for a while...they're still capable of winning the odd big match.

They kicked on us, dominated the air and kept their error rate down. That was all they did that could be considered good. They had nothing else to offer, yet we kept kicking everything back to them, feeding their area of dominance. That's all that kept them in it, us playing to their strengths and not making even the least effort to change lanes. Thank the bomb squad and Pollard for getting us out of that mess.

So that had nothing to do with England applying the pressure then? You apply pressure and get rewarded for it is usually the sign that you are in control of things. England played well in that first half

They were able to exert pressure because we exerted none….remember Dud Toit apparently commented on that at half time. You do believe Dud don’t you Dave?

So while they were scared they applied pressure….Pollard also said it was a mess. Two senior Boks basically said we were not competing. Which is true and easy to admit unless of course that means Eluckmiss didn’t have his team prepared.

I hardly think the team was literally scared now was it Moz? Fuck me we have done this to death. At halftime the coach has his say while the players sit quietly and listen. Thereafter the players get into a huddle and say their bit and gee each other up. On this occasion it was the quiet PSDT that had his say. That’s what made it standout, was the fact that PSDT felt drawn to speak. Of course things needed to change, we were losing, the coach would have identified the changes needed and it was then up to the players to execute. It’s that huddle and squeeze and vocalisation in the circle just before going out that raises the spirits to go out there an execute It’s why Rassie is the most astute and the best in the business. He identifies issues and makes changes and has a team determined and resolved enough to execute and win when it counts The man is a rugby genius with a record to prove it. You simply can’t match a CV with two WC victories on it. It’s Dr Rassie these days

Looking at my comments again on the live thread not much seemed to have changed in the second half. My frustration with the way were handing over possession remained, and in fact England had even more possession in the second half than in the first. So not sure if anything PSDT said made much of a difference - sounds like more media pablum. The bomb squad arrived to give us scrum parity and some momentum in the last 20 minutes. That saved the game, along with that incredible Pollard penalty.

Bullshit we dominated their scrum in the second half - created enough pressure through the scrum to get the line out in the corner which ended with the RG try No try no victory Reality dictates that what gets said at halftime by players is something that lifts the team for all of about 2 or 3 minutes - once the game gets going all that chest beating stuff amounts to a distant memory

The game was England’s ….Stewart fielded a high kick just inside the half. Incredibly stupidly he launched a high kick which went nowhere. A deep kick would have probably won the game for England, it was minute 77.

But he kicked short. England conceded a scrum and Ox won the predictable penalty. And Pollard unerringly nailed the kick from the halfway line.

That’s how the game was won…genius huh?
