Good summary of what tactics ABs have been using

Gregor Paul for the NZ Herald made a couple of good points about the AB's tactics - article was written before the game against the Argies but still rings true.
He said that the ABs were deliberately devoted to an all out attack almost exclusively using pass and catch rugby. There was almost no tactical kicking. This according to him was deliberate as Hansen wanted the backs to get used to incredible pressure of the rush defence so that players could learn how to execute their skills in such situations. 
Let's see if the ABs change this against the Boks, i.e. will we see more tactical kicking and will we see the backs align a little deeper to give themselves more time to assess the defense and adjust accordingly. I predict we will see this.

Well according to NZ Herald stats Foley had 7 in kicks in play.......Barrett had 15 in the second Oz test. Your writers seem to be living in a fantasy world JW.

Maybe Moz, I don't know what the average number of flyhalf kicks in a game is & that would be a better comparison. If this guy is right about AB coaches instructing players to not use elements of the game to polish and improve a specific set of skills it s ays a lot about the level the AB have reached. I thought this was what they did in the early rounds of the RWC. So it is not so far fetched.

 the comparison btwin Barrett and Foley is probably not the best one,... on one hand because in the aussie team given Foley's inaccuracy with the boot, Beale takes great part of the tactical kicking responsability (e.g. in the last game Beale kicked more than Foley, 12-8),.... and because Barrett easily gives 4-5 cross or chip-kicks per game which obviously are not tactical,.... in fact, Barrett is IMO abusing of these attacking kicks lately,... that chip-kick in the last game against the argies when there were seconds remaining for the halftime that end up in an argies' try was a very clear example of it

but if we consider the whole team's kicks, things are quite similar btwin AB and wallies,.... when the aussies are one of the teams that usually less uses the tactical kicks, they like to keep possession,... and when the AB usually kick a lot, sometimes even more than the boks
so, as you said JW, probably the article "is not so far fetched"

 I think Hansen is deffo up to something ,prior to the last RWC the ABs were standing off in the rucks and using the bare minimum .That seemed to change once the RWC was on eh ? Plus they were playing in a deliberately out of position sort of manner in the pool games to generate some pressure on themselves .
