The Rand will get stronger when Chinese growth questions are resolved....as will the Aussie dollar. It could easily appreciate 20 per cent. Goosen might find the numbers were closer than he thought. Still, given his injuries, one can't blame a young man for wanting to secure his future. Good luck to him.

As long as we keep selecting him as a Bok, I can live with him going to France.
Given his departure, he will be under pressure to leave a lasting impression this year at test level. For he is hardly an established Bok at this stage and come next season it will be a case of out of site out of mind, unless he sets the world alight in the tests this year.

Dr Moz a request. Please let me know when you think the rand is going to strengthen.
Investment houses here are still betting on a long term decline in the rand. Advice is to be offshore rather than here. Overseas market also recovering after a big slump. Our market is high with a lot on problems looming.

I took my nest egg off shore and last year and did very well as the Rand weakened and the overseas MARKETS WENT UP - A DOUBLE WHAMMY I just dont want the currency moving against me now. But as I said the view appears to be the rand will continue to be weak and could decline further and overseas markets will strengthen. Our market is at record levels with high PEs. Earnings growth is unlikely to change this. China apparently will have growth levels of some 7.5% but not as good as before.
States though look to be pulling out of their problems.
Oh for a crystal ball.

With Sexton already there you would think they will look to play Goosen at fullback maybe?
Could be another reason he found the offer so attractive.
I hope he has some good people around him to keep him focused and his head on straight - only 21, flush with cash, foreign country. Temptations and distractions aplenty.

Given the halfwit treasurer we have who with the other dipshits has been talking down the Aussie economy the Aussie dollar is not a good bet atm .I really rated young Goosen ,the bok jumper obviously meant the world to him ,maybe to the point of affecting his debut .A pity he is so fragile tho'

when one is playing Super 15 at under 19 one tends to be fragile. The idea that Goosen is fragile takes no account of his age. He seems to be going better this year.

Even if the Rand appreciated by 100% it would still be worthless internationally.
At the moment 1 Rand = $0.11 USA dollars, so a 100% increase would be $0.22 dollars....still Monopoly money.
With the wildcat strikes taking place and the threat of further job action who in their right mind wants to get Rands for anything.
I just hope your numbers for Goosen are incorrect as I think he is worth a bit more.
Good move Goosen..........you owe the country nothing, do what everybody does and that is "LOOK AFTER YOURSELF"
Good luck fellow.

AJ given what goes on here patriosim is at a low ebb. Folks thinking young players are going to wait around here hoping to play for the Boks when they can earn far more overseas are not thinking clearly.
We cannot stop this massive player drain with the rand at 17.5 to the pound. If we dont pick our strongest side we shoot ouselves in the foot. It's that simple.
To buy one nz dollar we pay R8.86. Their currency is much stronger than ours.We pay 10 Rand for one Oz dollar! Hence it is easier for Oz and Nz to keep thgeir players at home.
I trust the oaks are seeing the picture more clearly.
