The old boys had good games - just a pity the Stormers let it slip in the end.

Schalk showed he still has it and it was good to see him vary things and not just seek out contact.

Jean and de Allende were very good. de Allende needs to be elevated to the Bok squad, his strength sets him apart.

Good performance by the pack to turn the scrums around after the slow start. Groom was far better at 9......Cat had an off night and was targeted for that try.

Vermeulen and Fourie were good.

Taute was solid at the back until he threw that try away by not passing.......but sadly looks to have done his shoulder

Aplon needs to be brought into the game more.

Thanks Saf. My boys did well today. Best game of the season to date.  Pity we lost, but lots of positives to take into the next game. Oppas Chiefsies!

A really objective assessment.   I agree in full with you    It is now the second game in a row where Catrakillis was not up to standard.   I think they better play Grant at flyhalf.

To think, there were calls for Catrakillis to be elevated to the Boks last year.

These older chaps can't give the max every week through a 35 match season. They have to pace themselves to some extent. I tried to explain that last week. But while there was no doubt in my mind Jean is still our best back at test level, I have been concerned about Schalk. I haven't seen the game yet, but it's good to hear he is finally back. Rugby 365 gave him the MOM.

Normal comments - I agree with Saffex about Jean and Schalk - but he mentioned De Allende as well as having had a top game.  Matter of fact in some respects he was better than Jean - but they complimented each other very well.
Like last week - you absolutely refused to comment on De Allende's performance. Quietness is the obvious way to go - because De Allende is too young to contribute anything of significance.    It hurts you because he may be considered for higher honours and that will hurt the chances of two of your favourite centers - Steyn and De Jongh, as well as useless Fourie.

Wrong inference. De Allende is a Jamie Roberts type, with more pace. He is a little rough around the edges, but clearly has test potential.

I will watch out for your future comments on that one,  My guess is that faultfinding on the slightest invented by you deficiency will creep in soon enough..
