He over does the charge out of the line and his last attempt cost the Stormers the game. Had he kept the defensive line, the Stormers would have kept the Tahs out as they had all day. It was a disappointing result for the Stormers. Once again the two young props stood tall, but for one scrum where the Tahs got the early hit. Fourie as good a general player as he is, he is equally stupid and gives away too many penalties. Etzebeth is finding his way back into rugby and Bekker was good again. Kolisi, Vermeulen and Elstadt had very good games again. Why on earth are the Stormers playing Duvenhage at 9. Groom is by far their best 9 and he is not even in the match 22. v/Aswegen is a very average player, get Jantjies back in the starting spot. Jean was solid, de Jongh disappointing. Joe needs to realise that he does not have the physicality to take contact as he does. Habana and Aplon were solid enough. The forwards set the platform, the backs let them down with nothing on offer at the back. Poor at 9 & 10. What a crap weekend of rugby by the SA sides. We are SHIT this year

Snapster it was a fatal error by Bryan and cost us the match.

Kitshoff and malherbe scrumming with a lightweight hooker have been very good and oh what might have been if tiaan had been fit. Malherbe is the Bok tighthead in my book.

Bekker was very good. His departure to japan is a big blow to both us and the Boks. Deo Fourie put in a ton of work. why owhy is he not at 6. Kolis made little impression. what has happend to kolisi the runner?

Wonder if Duanne has done his knee.

Essentially the trouble apart form injuries is a faliure of Alistair t ograsp something pretty obvious. When a kiwi ref is officaiting the likelihood of you winning a close game is almost zero. You can stop them scoring tries but you will be blown out of it and they will win by penalties. Hence the only way to beat a kiwi side and their ref is to defend as well as usual but them also score enough tries to keep the kiwi ref at bay. Thats what it boils down to.

Then why do they get so conservative well asi have been saying for so long they cant rust the ball going wide too often because the little backs will lose the collisions. Mallert said as much naming De Jongh, Aplon and Joe.

Man to think we might have had. Groom, Grant, Habana, Jean Allende, Van Der heever and Taute this season. Big fast strong backline. ANd letting go of the Cat who won us the currie Cup - swopping him for jantjies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! spending all that money!. How much to keep the Cat?

Guys like Howard and Du Plessis never even got a shot. Its as a backline collective that they dont create tries. But Coetzee was the Bok backline coach so what is going on. Fact is the brain department is frot and even taking into account the injuries the talent remaining has not been best utlilised. Put aside all other mitigating factors (and there are significant ones) one sees a lack of coaching and tactical appreciation.

I have no doubt that but for injuries we would have been around the top of the table (and ditto the Sharks) but that is simply because the squad was so good and it would have hidden these failures in approach. Narrow losses woudl have become wins.  The real question, as always, is the talent available playing to its potential.

Beenkop, you have to be crazy, Fourie was poor today. The guy is stupid and concedes far too many infringements. Kolisi is a far superior 6, no contest at all. Kolisi is test material, Fourie a handy S15 player. The major issue in the backs is that Duvenhage is poor and v/Aswegen is even worse. He is way out of his depth, much like Burton for the Cheetahs. Coetzee needs to wake up and return Groom and Jantjies to the starting line-up and its time to give de Allende or Howard a run at 13

i think its a bit harsh to say habana cost the game. IMO habana made the right call to rush out of his line, what was he supposed to do, wait for folau to run for him while hes standing on the tryline??? yes JDV was scrambling across, but he wouldnt have made it in time and folau would have easily scored.
habana rushing out was the right call, but barnes countered it brilliantly by holding onto the ball a few more seconds and running it so habana was behind him, he then passed to folau and the rest is history.

deon fourie was shit today, but his form all season has been world class, i agree with storminged on this one, he should be a Bok, but saffex will be a happy chum cos i dont see that happening at all.

dont know how much of a difference tian would have made in the scrums, they were clearly the dominant scrum, at least until the behemoth skelton got on the field, o_-

but anyways, habana wasnt too blame, barnes just sussed that situation out brilliantly is all.

Nonsense Sas, Habana made the wrong call. By rushing out and making no impact, he left a gaping hole. Had he held his defensive line, the Stormers would have had Folau covered. It was poor play by Habana.

He needs to learn the art of making that rush call at the right time. He is doing it too often and its costing.

I rate Fourie, but not as a 6, he is a quality impact player. The issue I have with him, is that he is stupid. He gives away too many penalties

Saffex

I agree with you Habana made a mistake - but where I do not agree with you is that Kolisis is test material.   He makes too many mistakes in ball handling - he thus far in all games playd this year by the Stormers made two turnovers in possession, and his runs with the ball in hand has become less and less.

And then there were two knock-ons whe the Stormers were attacking.    He was not watching the balls - but the defenders approaching him.   If that  happened once it was OK - repetition is not acceptable.   He started off surprisingly well last year when the Super 15 started and faded  out completely in the later games  prior to his injury.   This year he was average and nothing special - so why shoud he be a Springbok selection?

Crap Kolisi has been one of the form loosies in SA. The kid is powerful with ball in hand and puts in many hits. I love the lads physicality, he always makes yards and has Bok written all over him. He should have won a test cap last year, he will win one this year. The Stormers loosies have been very good this year. Elstadt and Kolisi are test quality loosies, Vermeulen is already a Bok.

How Meyer left Elstadt out last year and again this year is beyond me - its plain stupidity.

There are only two options for the Bok 6 spot in my opinion.......Brussouw and Kolisi

Saffewx

How many yards did he make in the game yesterday?   Four at most.   And when he had an opportunity to make further yards - he knocked the ball on.    Sorry - but his physicality aspect is also questionable - so lets hopew Meyer sees what he produces and leave him out of contention.

I agree with Moz, the shit you bring up makes me often wonder if you actually watch rugby

Saffex

I do watch rugby and the shit you brought up is not in any game present at all.   You miss out most things and use the "it happens" excuse far too often.

To wiegh in on deabte -

Saffex - kolisi is average at best... as an aussie I hope boks do go with him as our fetchers will destroy him and turn over 5-7times v his NO turnovers.... I cant understand how you can have an openside that DOESNT fetch?????

Additionally - it was a combination of barnes' excellent pass / folaus competence and habana prbly a bit wuick off the line. Eiterh way try time and the Tahs take the victory. Watching it live I had utmost confidence the Tahs were going to get the job done in the last 2mins largely due to Folau & Barnes' experience in the big games.

Beeno - you well know my feelings re kiwi refs so I dont need to even expand on how much I agree and understand your sentiments.

I think Stromers / Sahrks this season have struggled but they are always there or there abouts - if I was to back a saffa team home it would be the cheetahs all day every day. They are exciting to watch got excellent forwards, good captain, exciting backs... big shame goosen injured...

anyway winners are grinners and Im grinning lots this week :):):):):):):):):):)

saffex listen to ou redsman. Occassionally he makes a goo dpoint!

Kolis is not a fetcher at all, He does no run the ball and all he does is tackle. Big hits you say. Hahahahahahahaha at 103 kg his hits are pretty avergae and I think you have built this kid into some sort of super man in your vivid imagination.

Please listen to Mike on this one has he is quite correct as have the rest of us. saSUE/aka stormingED as daft as he is, would not use the term world class loosely. The Kolisi you see playing is a figment of your imagination. I refer to the way he has  played thus far in 2013.

Habana's mistake was a blunder and certainly cost us the match. However the early subbing of Malherbe and injuries to Fourie, Elstadt and Vermuelen were major factors as before that the pack was dominating the wobbly boys who were going, going gone a bit like tarzan fight like jane sbw  versus Botha case. It was just another in the outrageous sequence of misfortunes faced by the Mighty Stormers this season.

As I note elsewhere the warts wobbly pack have to be extremely thankful Tiaan and Burger were not playing as thir scrum would have been entirely demolished and their pack completely munched.

Redsman as a rugby connoisseur I can tell you that the rolling maul and sound defence are very exciting. On has to appreciate the various arts that make up the game. I sense you are are rugby netball fan at heart.

Red you are speaking a load of shit, Kolisi is a quality player, better than any of the pretenders you have in the role.

You sound as bloody ignorant as our board clowns Beenkop and DomMike

Saffex - mate I appreciate your passion for the game but you've got a lot of mixed up ideas. Kolisi is a strong athlete but I could think of at least 5-6 better openside flankers saffa have got. 2. Jake White being a crap coach... weight of opinion and results against you on that one too...

You want to see technique of a quality openside - watch a turnover effected by Liam Gill v sharks on Friday - tackle on feet pilfered ball... all before big but dumb Saffa forwards even knew what was going on. That is a quality openside flanker. Shame pocock gone - but knowing your track record (ie kolisi the best...) youd probably think hes crap too....

Beeno.... I like hard fast entertaining rugby - not ruined by cheating kiwi or occasional saffa refs - Tahs smashed the stormers all over the park except the setpiece... now if you want to live in the 90s and base your whole gameplan around setpiece it will be a longtime indeed untill Saffa teams ever win any thing again... thats why the best saffa team in the comp is actually being creative and.... wait for it..... SCORING TRIES !!!! who woulda thought that a saffa team can actually..... SCORE TRIES.....!!??

Re defence - all about atitude - thats why even little aplon can pull off the hit he did on TPN. I too am a fan of defence but not at the cost of some flair in the outside backs. Never doubted the rolling maul is good rugby... Just rather watch it once or twice a game rather than 25 times becuase your crappy backs keep dropping or kciking the ball away.,...

Red, name 6 better openside flanker in SA than Kolisi, you are a joke. Kolisi is far better than Gill. How many turnovers does Gill effect a game?

The role of an openside, is not only turnovers, the primary role is slowing down the breakdown, which Kolisi does as effectively as any other 6. His value is his physicality.

But be a sport and name 6 better opensides......take your time, I look forward to your list of laughs

You really are ignorant - Daniel and Potgieter......try again. So far you have Brussouw, name another.

So according to your well informed opinion, the position of the top sides in the S15 is down to a good openside.......wow so, how do we account for the Stormers topping the 2012 S15 log then? Let me guess the game has moved on that much in 12 months???????
