Let's hope we NEVER see this sad excuse for a fly half EVER play for the Boks again.

Morne, Steenkamp, Bakkies and Smith have been rightly discarded from the match 23.

With immediate effect Pienaar and Matfield MUST go next followed by Jean, Jannie, Louw, Alberts and the coach and we might have some hope.

Thank goodness I don't have to witness useless Morne kicking away hard earned possession and missing endless tackles on Sat. There is a little light at the end of the tunnel.

You know what happens to IF - if my auntie had balls, she would have been my uncle.
The selection of Pollard will make it somewhat harder for the AB's than the flopping Steyn would have been.  But I still think that it would not help - we astill have only a Tight 4 having to compete with the AB's Tight 5 and then we also have the kicking donkey Pienaar - bad news.

I still think we will lose - but maybe with a slightly less margin ot would have been.

Not to worry - Meyer has removed the main culprit - but there are still two problem cases in the team.

Yep Morne has gone. And HM may never bring him back. He did some fine things for Bok rugby, as recently as two weeks ago when he rescued the Bargie test in Salta. Still Pollard, his replacement was denigrated by the OOM and never picked by Dave, so what are they crowing about. I always liked this young chap from the moment I saw him and HM seems to have huge confidence in him. Let's hope he wins as many tests as Morne.

Never picked by Dave what utter rubbish as for Morne he should never have smelt a single test cap. Bog ordinary rugby player with a good boot. Test standard pivot he never was - not even close.

 Sure Mozart
In the case you referred to Morne did for a change what any other ha;f-decent flyhalf woudd regard as routine.  He then went on and kicked a ball directly into touch - putting his side under extreme pressure.  What would have happened if n the follow-up play a penalty was given to the Pumas?   A certain loss.
Morne should stay out of Springbok rugby and continue to warm the Stade Francais bench for keeps.

So as soon as Pollard was available, Meyer selects him as the starting flyhalf in 4 of the next 5 tests. Definitely not what the youth brigade here saw coming based on their opinion of Meyer.
If this is indeed a changing of the guard and Morne is being marginalized then he has been a real servant of Bok rugby and the fact that he was vilified by so many couch potato Bok fans for not being the total package is pathetic. Fact is for a long time he was the best we had, proving longevity and seeing off challenges by Lambie, Goosen et al who proved not to be good enough. He may yet be the best we have. It cannot be said that Pollard has done anything in the Test arena with the opportunities he has been given so far to be labelled the incumbent. Perhaps a Stephen Donaldesque moment in his future?

Oi what is pathetic is your tears over a sad excuse for a pivot. Nothing against morne as a person but he is a crap rugby player end of.
Saying Goosen and lambie did not make it is pathetic and far from the truth. The only reason morne kept coming back is because we have a pathetically conservative coach

I am not prejudiced just fair.  The first time I saw Morne playing was for SA Under 21 in the final in Argentina.  He missed every goal kick and was an uttrer flop - so badly so that the Juniors nearly lost the game.
Then he made his mark in the Bulls team and his goal kicking improved - the rest of his game stayed pretty stagnant.   I also believe that Morne can be good in one game and poor in th enxt - or even if he is good in one gam he can be poor later in teh same game or vice versa.   Have a look at his ESPN profile and you will see that they say the same - he was throughout his career erratic insofar as performances are cooncerned.
Problem is he could win matches by kicking at goal - but how many matches has he lost by erratic and often enough poor play.   He never was the complete flyhalf we have been searching for - sad to say.   Far to robotic and poor in reading of the game.

Oi I never said you pity him I said your tears over what we think of him was pathetic. He is/was crap so I don't get your concerns. Nothing anyone says about Morne will change the fact that he is a very ordinary rugby player who made it thanks to his boot.
That fact in itself raises serious questions against those that selected him.
Given my outlook on the game it would be impossible for me to endorse the selection of a player like him. Goes against the grain

Meyer selecting Pollard now is a desperate measure in my opinion.

He was on NZ TV this morning saying Pollard was the future and that he had to bring him in now to be ready for the RWC 2015.

He seems to have forgotten that he's already picked Pollard to face the Argies and then promptly dumped him for Morne when he under performed!

Desperate times for a coach under the cosh. Will he tell Pollard to run everything, pass everything or kick everything? I feel sorry for the poor kid getting thrown into this match after being dumped in Perth....

Look I am a great Morne fan, but I agree with HM on this change. The team with Morne is a known. And frankly without a power lock like Flip and a power flank like Alberts, less well positioned to play our forward dominance game. So if we are going to be more expansive, Morne is less of a factor.

Also in Game Theory terms, if we are likely losers this time around, why not scramble the variables. We may in fact do worse, but the possibility of a win can't be ignored. I'm optimistic based on the team's apparent focus.

Finally I know HM understands if he selected Morne the vitriol against the player would have been at Adi Jacobs levels. With Morne possibly struggling after his gaff, that may not have been in Steyn's best interests.

Now it's crystal clear....the team played well but Morne made a fatal error. Morne gets punished and the team soldiers on unchanged. Accomplishments are rewarded, mistakes are punished.....leadership is clear.

Talks a power lock like  Flip and a power flank like  Alberts - that is not even remotely true.   Flip collexcts cards and penalties  per game - because his power is often enough misdirected and stupid - and Alberts one has to use  a microoscope to find anything he actually prodiuces during a game.
Being a great Morne  fan means that one overlooks all the bugger-ups he made at flyhalf - so the team with Morne is a known - known to make mistakes at flyhalf that constatly cost the team dearly.   With Morne at flyhalf one can start listing the mishaps at Eden Park and go through virtually every test from the Eden Park test   onwards and find a long list of mistakes made by Morne.   Morne struggling after the gaff - as if that gaff was the only one he made - is a joke.   Morne made gaff after  gaff during those tests - that specific gaff is the seventh one of exactly the same nature made by Morne in 9 tests.   In at least two tests he made two of those.  the other  5 was spread over the remaining 7 tests.   So gaffs enoough - so Morne must ALWAYS be struggling after gaffs.
Morne made one  fatal error?   I asked before - what happened with a kick he made at minute 13-14 in the game on Saturday and no answer.  That was as much a fatal bugger-up as the last gaff was.   What about the constant aimless kicks and the constant missed tackles - misisng 46% of all  attempted tackles - but Morne made 1 gaf?   Do you ever seen anything in games or do you coionstantly ignore what is wroong with players  you favour?   It is because you do - that your contribuitions - like this one - are so farcical .

Why not answer the questions and say that Morne's gaf on S aturday was a unique occurrece - Making out that it is not a regular thing with Morne?  Why not justify his string of miss tackles as an abberation?   Why not comment on his aimless and directionless kicks that was at one stage even called BS by the commentators in a orevuious match?
Omne thing you are loyal to oudated ideas and concepts.   When Morne was dropped in 2012 - bcause of generally poor play (his normal) and an atrocious goal kiking record - you remain loyal to him through thick and thin.  Biut for his goal kicking,  Morne has not been much better since then.   If the same constant bugger-ups normal with Morne are made by any player you dislike you would write books about such a player - better still you would invent reasosn to write books on your unliked players in any event.
However to discuss rugby issues with a verkrampte non-thinker living in the past - and going to ridiculous lenrgts to invent more often than not lies to discredit players is really typical Mozart - the most prejudiced and  consequently useless poster on this site.
The only thing I enjoy is the discomfort Morne's absence on  Saturday is felt by NZ supporters on this site.  If physical-deficient Matfield was also absent - and we had a  Tiight  5 combination and not  Tight  4 combination with a hanger-on, the disconfort would have been worse.
