This kid looks like he could be the real deal.

Watch his decision making, offloads, general passing and KICKING!!!

Ok, so he knocked on a basic pass and fluffed a simple kick for poles, but look at his overall game!

Also bear in mind he is still at school!

He also looks commanding! A great trait for such a young oke!

Add to this, he is already 96kgs!

He looks double the player that young jantjies appears to be!

I have heard so many laud every toddler that touches a rugby ball to such an extent that I am too skeptical to believe anything these days. Be that as it may, I will keep an eye out for him. No doubt he will be the next Carter, Larkham or whatever - players can never just be themselves, always the next somebody *yawn*

It wouldn't take much to be twice the player Jantjies is, lol.

Where did u see me comparing him and lauding him as the next x,y or z???

All I said was he looks like the real deal. That's hardly a comparison to anyone!!

Monday the whole backline of the Juniors was disrupted by a totally incompetent scrummy and a "Earl Rose" type of flyhalf.   Tonight they had a flyhalf that knows what is expected from that key position.

His passing game was excellent - often after getting over the advantage line himself - getting his backline away and that allowed for Serfontein to play a magnificent game.   I have rarely seen a player in the postion of fly half that on the said level showed more potential.

Needless to say a youngster to be followed to see how he develops.

He couldn't come at a better time seeing as Steyn is getting worse and worse and that we need a flyhalf.

That's quite amusing coming from you Dave. I simply grow weary of the immature and childish bleatings about the next so-and-so and the media hype that rarely ever amounts to anything. Being a realist definitely has it's merits, so thankfully I'm not one to be swept away by fanciful myths.

This is not negative - it is logic based on so many hyped players in the past who could not live up to the expectations.  Calling for this kid to replace Steyn?  Man you need to go watch tennis or some other game as rugby seems beyond your grasp.  There are a whole host of no10's in the line before you get to this kid that is for sure.

Lunatic

I am not necessarily over-awed after seeing one performance by Pollard.   What I saw impressed me though and my comment is that the youngster - if he develops further he has the potential to move into a higher position of the rated flyhalfs.    In other words he could beat Jantjies and Morne on the ratings table.   IF he develops further - he could move to number 3 on the said table after Goosen and Lambie - taking into account that Grant is at present no 3, Jantjies no 4 and Morne Steyn no 5

How do you work out that Jantjies is behind Grant when he is in the Bok squad?

Saffex

Morne is in the Bok squad is he not - and you in fact rate Grant above him yourself - so where is your argument?    I think that Grant at this stage beats Jantjies - but that could be the result of the poor Lions team as a whole.   He has a spotty record - sometimes he does good things - other times he is not so hot.   Under proper coaching he can develop and that is what Meyer see in him.   At this stage it would be harmful to play him as a Springbok - he could easily deteriorate and become another Earl Rose.

Unlike Goosen and Lambie - I am not at all sure that he is 'the real thing"   -  but he can develop.   However, over the next couple of years the competition to get into the team will increase in intensity - so we will ahve to wait and see what the future holds.    At this stage though in Super 15 Grant was vastly better than Jantjies - he scored and made more tries and his goal kicking was excellent.
