Last night's win for the Highlanders was particularly special for Brad Thorn.
Not only did they finally crack their 2013 drought with a 25-22 victory over the Sharks in Dunedin.
But for lock Thorn, it was also his 100th game.
He says the home match was special.
"I don't know if I've ever been so happy in a round robin club game. It's like I've won a final or something.
"My 100th game in front of my people."
Halfback Aaron Smith says their first win of the season is the perfect way to get on the plane to South Africa.
"Just being able to build a bit of pressure was good, and just telling the boys to trust ourselves, trust our work, trust the little things will work, and it paid off in the end.
"It probably wasn't the most fluent attack but we got the points we needed."
Meanwhile the Waratahs have registered the biggest win of the season in hammering the Kings 72-10, and the Reds have stumbled to an 11-all draw with the Force.
