For years, we used to look forward to Super Rugby at the beginning of the year and then the Currie Cup afterwards... littered with some internationals...
Without Super Rugby, it just doesn't feel the same. The tournaments with the Northern Hemisphere teams isn't the same.
I'll never be able to wake up again early on a Saturday or skip work on a Friday to watch the Bulls or Lions play the Highlanders or the Tahs...
Local rugby has lost its fizz.

It's not the same due to a lot of reasons.

  1. We don't really know the opposition.
  2. We see empty stadiums at home.
  3. We haven't seen the European sides play over here.
  4. It's stale watching the SA sides play each other week in and week out.
  5. I'm sure there's a reason for the CC running concurrently with the URC, but it's staler watching WP playing the Bools on Wednesday and then the Stormers vs the Same Bools on Saturday.
  6. Things will get better as soon as we and our teams adapt to the new normal.
  7. etc...

Rugby and everything in life is not normal anymore...I sincerely hope that what we have now, is not the new norm...It feels like URC is moving on in NH and SA is left behind....all because of the Plandemic...Super Rugby was the berries....I can remember puttin in overtime at work so I could have Friday of watching Super Rugby, having a Dop and a Chop with friends....those were the days...hope we get it back somehow.

Pakie ‘the days’ were when HO de Villiers was unstoppable by one tackler…..or Jannie Englebrecht gloriously swerved round opposing wings from the north.

Before my time, Moz. The 80s is my nostalgic era. Just hearing those commentators puts me right back in our living room on a Saturday afternoon as a 13 year old.

Yeah Super rugby is a huge loss and just when there were rumours of it resorting back to the old format with all the sides playing eachother instead of the stupid groups which had the local sides playing eachother twice

We need to see our sides compete and win against top international sides.
