Their forward pack is lacking mongrel, and it has not helped that Retallack has not been at his best with increasing injuries. Coles is their best player in the pack.
Keiren Read is a spent force, and no longer has the physicality required at this level. The props also seem past their best. Sonny Bill Williams is still good at organising defence, but his once-vaunted offload is a distant memory. Moo-unga seemed like a downgrade from Barrett.
I don't believe the Boks played well today other than cover defence. The plan on attack was non-existent. Delande was his usual plodding self with some of the best possession.
Willie Leroux's chip kicks are too long, and this was giving the All Blacks a few opportunities.
The All Blacks are struggling with the rush defence. They also seem to have less opportunity to use their backs behind the advantage line, with angled runs and long passes.
I am surprised the Boks have not tried to bully Barrett some more. He looks thin and frail, and a few bone-crunching tackles - and he would be less confident to run around like it is a practice session.
