The village idiot Ceradyne keep on telling us how strong the French and English Clubs participating in the Heineken Cup are.    When I say the are somewhere between Vodacom Cup and Group 1 CC level he goes ballistic.


It is difficult to evaluate the Club strength since they do not play against the SA provincial franchises and those in New Zealand.   However,  from time to time there are indications about the true strength of the Clubs - and today was such an indicator in the Gloucester -Edinburgh game.


Edinburgh has a massively long record of losing against opponents in the Heineken Cup.  They appointed Alec Solomons as their coach and he took with him some players from the Southern Kings/Eastern Province Kings and suddenly they beat Gloucester with relative ease. 


The lesson is clear -  take some players from a weak SA franchise - contract them - and the Club is suddenly so much stronger they can beat a top England Club.


 Weird - not so?

Toulon, Leinster and a few others are of a consistent high standard and could be competitive in the SuperXV. 
Otherwise the standard starts to drop off significantly after the top 5, and then after the top 10 is it is Vodacom stuff.

I think there are about 5 Heineken Cup teams that could be competitive on CC level.   As you said the rest are Vodacom Cup stuff.   Those five Clubs can perhaps compete on CC premier league - the rest are just not there. 


One of the Super 15 warm up matches this year is between Saracens and the Stormers.   Would like to see how that one goes.   However, we know that most Stormers players have not played rugby since the CC final towards the end of October and that warm up games are used basically to try out new combinations - so it may not be a reliable indicator as to what will follow when the season really starts  - but it should to some extent reflect where the Clubs stand comparative to a Super 15 side.

 Once again ou Maaikie tries to do the escape trick and he cannot even get that right. I know for a fact that Alec Solomons is not Edinburgh's coach. Ever heard of a guy called Alan Solomons though? Oh and those "some" Kings players amount to exactly Cornell du Preez. The only other one is actually and Argentinian player Tomas Leonardi who has played 1 game Super Rugby game for the Kings and four for the EP Kings (CC or Vodacom Cup).

Now run on back  to the other thread that you started about the French rugby before you make an asshole of yourself. Oh Wait. You cannot go back there. You have already made a  doos of yourself on there as well.

You really knows zip about the world - do you?   Any idiot that says the English clubs are on par with Super 15 is talking KAK - they are not and that was proven again today.   I really love that Scottish name -  Willie Nel.  Really phenomenal what a huge impact we have on Scottish names and surnames.       What a stinking fart you are!!!!!!!

You try the same underhanded stupid lie every time you fucking idiot. I never  said  anything about the the Heineken Cup compared to the Super 15. You, you doos, was the one who said that it was below CC level and I disagreed, and I still disagree. I have not watched that game today. I watched parts of the Montpelier v Leicester Tigers game.

Now  let's get back  to you having the habit of  making a doos of yourself. That Willie Nel is  non other than WP Nel who joined Edinburgh from the Cheetahs in 2012 already. He already has 36 caps for Edinburgh you stupid clown. He never played for The Kings or the EP kings.

 If you knew anything, Mike, apart from the correct name of Mr Solomons , you would know that Glos aren't a top English team...they are languishing in the Prem this Season.

Also the HC is an odd competition. It throws up some strange results and teams win unexpected matches. By this stage, many teams are already out of the running, Glos being one of them, I should imagine.

What about the useless English team Quins beating Racing home and away ? Saints beating Leinster in Dublin after getting the mother of all beatings last week at Franklin's Gardens ? The list goes on and on.


You are very wrong about the standard of our Rugby.
Unlike you, I watch your CC matches and see how poor much of the play is. We don't play harem scarem Rugby here, Mike, running in 50 tries a piece....oooh what fantastic defence, hey ?
No, we have different weather for starters and the teams in all countries have styles of their own to play. You may think it's boring, that's up to you.
But I really don't know what your obsession with trying to prove your are so much better than we are all the time.

Just watch what you want and leave us alone !!
