Type in NZ robbed in Rugby WC 2007....and then type in Springboks robbed in Rugby WC 2011. Check the results.....in the Springbok search Wales losing to the Boks comes up half the time and there aren't that many articles. Case of NZ there's a library. Given the right motivation you chaps whine with the best of them. The fact is rugby is a complicated game to ref and mistakes are made. But sometimes the ref has a cause, and it's usually quite obvious. When that happens fans tend to get upset.

How were Boks robbed in 2011? They diddnt even make the final? Youve been harprning on about that since 2011. But reality is Bryce did you a favor. Abs would of slaughtered that bok side in the semi. As they did to OZ. That game, you had ample possesion and oppurtunities. But coould not convert it into points. So you've bn blaming the ref ever since. With NZ in 07, it was a forward pass. So N fans hav a right to be agrieved. Not that it matters NZ has won the last two wcs. And prob going to go three peat.

Luke

The problem is that Bryce Lawrence reffed the quarter-finals and made sure the Aussies win and stop SA from further progress in the WC.  He was after the match withdrawn from reffing games in the 2011 WC and was shortly thereafter dismissed as an international referee.

However, NZ that was set to meet SA in the semi-final if they beat Australia, amply rewarded Bryce Lawrence  for his crooked refereeing in the quarters by -

*     naming him the NZ rugby referee of the year; and

*     being promoted by NZ and appointed to head of the referees  training program.

Have we got a string of Bryce Lawrence's coming out of that programme now?

Yes well we all know about the alleged forward pass. You, however, don't seem to know about the mirror situation which occurred to the Boks....one of several dubious decisions. This is what the BBC said: 'South Africa thought they had drawn level early after the interval, when the impressive Jean de Villiers sent Patrick Lambie sprinting over the line, but his pass was adjudged to have been forward. It was a marginal decision.' Subsequent video analysis showed the ball came backwards out of de Villiers hands, but he was in a hard sprint. So we know about your claims, you seem to know nothing about our's.....who do you think was making the bigger fuss. Point made.

Dont see many if any kiwis on here whining about 2007,although it seems to be a tacit admission from you Moz that  you saffas are going the big whinge .

Personally I recall saying as how I dont give 2 shits about 2007 and that if we were good enough we would have won.

Do the test I suggested in the initial post on the string WD. Rugby has a very complicated set of rules....so many of the calls are judgement calls. Sometimes a shoulder charge is a penalty....sometimes a red card as we saw with SBW. When a scrum goes down who was at fault. When is a pass forward or just a case of drift. Did the tackler roll away quickly enough? A vast complicated brew of judgements.. unlike soccer which mostly throws up simple offside calls, calls which are definitive. Like it or not referees have a huge influence in rugby...the grey area decisions can swing a test match. They play a role in determining the outcome to a much greater extent than any other game I can think of......in the light of that of course they are going to be dissected. Even by AB fans when the ABs lose...as the suggested test shows.

All these whines and excuses are just confirming the Yarpies as a nation of braggarts, bullies and crybabies.
20 years ago they were at least a decent rugby nation but now they don't even have that.
If crybabies like Walter, Plum, Clean Cut and notsoclevermike are representative of Yarpie rugby fans then it's a very sad state of affairs.

Cloudy, you can't reason with a crybaby. All you can do is help him dry his tears and wipe the snot off his face until he bursts into tears again.

Moz a proper rugby fan has a bit of a whinge about the  ref when they think a dodgy decision has gone against them, but then they leave it  at that and move on .Did you argue with the ref when you played or did you just suck it up say "OK sir " and get on with it ?

Bet it was the latter.

Actually I was very critical of Joubert after the Scotland fiasco Cloudy....as I have been critical of Peyper and other SA refs. I'm making 2 points: 1 Rugby has become the most refereed game, with huge grey area where calls can go many ways. Of late the 'roll away', 'head contact', drift pass' and 'tackled in the air' rules have expanded the grey area. Look at that laughable penalty when the Lions played jumped into the pass, and the totally innocent AB was penalized for 'tackling the man in the air'. A joke....but a trend of referee encroachment on the game. Players like Haskell are beginning to notice. 2 In this increasingly politically correct game the SA teams seem to have had more than their share of poorly called games....mostly by NZ and French refs. Imagination as the tedious Fartie keeps suggesting? I don't think so, but when it happens it's worth a debate. The scrum penalty just before the half in the Stormers game was a disgrace.

Well Cloudy I think some of the modern rules are bonkers, here are some examples: 1 Why penalize a scrum in reverse. It's not intentional, the losing scrummers just can't hold up.....in the old days it led to a strike against the head, not a penalty. 2 Advantage should end after a phase or two.....in that time the advantaged team should be able to select the kick if they wish. Handling advantage should end immediately if the other side has recovered the ball.....if not the scrum should be immediately called. 3 The no arms tackle is redundant now that the head is protected. Who cares if a no arms tackle is made to the body. These are three stupid rules that lead to ref encroachment.....clean them up and the many others that have slowed up the game.

Moz those are only 3 but they are good criticisms and I fully agree..and.the main issues are the set scrum...also like the scrumhalf to feed straight for hookers to compete...illegal scrumming on both sides to be monitored correctly...the rolling maul done away with. In the old days there were very few controversies and players got on with the game without all these hiatuses. Also line out throws are often skew and by-passed

Search engines order the list sent back according to data mining.

For example, a person who has interest in NFL will see mostly football related links when enquiring about ravens, a person who has interest in birds, links about ravens etc

Confirmation of bias.

Beside, when entering other countries like England or France, for any WC, links appear.

For example France  rugby robbed WC 1995

And links appear about the semi final against SA, with stories of two tries, one wrongfully awarded to SA and the other wrongfully refused to FR.

In the case of the 1995 WC, though, it was rigged. SA was awarded the win to go with the tale of the rainbow nation, because the situation of rugby in SA hurt the values promoted by WoR.

20 years later, the situation is the same.

Yep, it is hard to think of another team that got stolen by two tries.

SA rugby is a liability. It burdens the world of rugby.
