WELLINGTON: World No.3 Australia has been snubbed by the International Rugby Players' Association (IRPA) with no Wallabies being named in the World XV.
The world players' body handed out its awards for the first time, judged by the players themselves.
In a bright note for the Wallabies, fullback Israel Folau was named newcomer of the year and Link was named Dreamer of the year with his master plan to beat the All Blacks LOL
However, seven All Blacks were named in team.
New Zealand No.8 Kieran Read was named player of the year, adding to the equivalent IRB honour bestowed on him this week.
"There's no greater honour than to be recognised by the people you play against," Read said.
"Rugby's a tough game - on the field there's no quarter given or expected. So for your opponents to single you out for this sort of attention means an awful lot."
Six other New Zealanders were named in a World XV - winger Ben Smith, centre Conrad Smith, five-eighth Aaron Cruden, halfback Aaron Smith, flanker Liam Messam and lock Sam Whitelock.
Four players from Six Nations champions Wales were selected, along with two South Africans and one player each from France and England.
World XV: Leigh Halfpenny (Wales), Ben Smith (NZ), Conrad Smith (NZ), Wesley Fofana (France), George North (Wales), Aaron Cruden (NZ), Aaron Smith (NZ), Kieran Read (NZ), Sam Warburton (Wales), Liam Messam (NZ), Sam Whitelock (NZ), Eben Etzebeth (South Africa), Adam Jones (Wales), Bismarck de Plessis (South Africa) Alex Corbisiero (England)
Player of the year: Kieran Read (NZ)
Newcomer of the year: Israel Folau (Australia)
Team of the year: New Zealand
hey Redsman "No Wallabies named in World IX"
Lol, that's classic Hakwa. If anyone deserves that award it would have to be Ewan "ate all the pies" McKenzie.
It's also pretty cool that so many ABs (7) were picked for the world 15. I had to laugh that so few Saffas made the grade. Sign of the times I suppose. I think the team is a fair reflection of the strength of NZ rugby.
Mate that's fine - I well aware of the fact that the IRB are the second most corrupt sporting body - I think FIFA tip them at the post....
Keep the talk up kiwis like you did before the Rugby League World Cup - WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT ENDED...........................
I get it you're good at ONE sport - compare that to the multitude of world champs coming from Australia..........
The World CHOKING TEAM for 2013 captained by:
DEAN BARKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OOHOHOHOHHOHOHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHOOHOHOHOHOHAAHAHAHA LOL!!!!!!
@ Claydog - don't listen to their parochial back slapping.... they're like a pack of spotted hyenas these kiwis.... grinning and screeching and mounting each other with their unusal genitalia.....
Should see how quiet they go when Aussie s15 teams DOMINATED the kiwi team this year.....
Player of the year: Kieran Read (NZ)
What a very poor selection.Willie Le Roux is easily the most creative back in world rugby.Habana long before ben Smith - pleeeeease!Conrad carthorse smith.Bwahahahhahahaahhahaha JJ before him any day of the weekWhere is Jean de Villiers easily the best 12 in world rugby this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!Aaron smith - you have to be joking!!!!!Cruden -we must be at alow point re flyhalves in the worldSam warburton - sidesplitting selection - totally rediculous!Liam Messam???????????????????????? he is anon entityBeast before Adam do nothing Jones. Anyone trying to sell Ben Smith, Conrad. Cruden, Aaron Smith. Messam and Reid as being the best in their position in the world are less than half wits.
Kiweran Reid before Vermulen. a hatters choice. The Stormers would whip this teamFor what its worth only one ab tight forward makes the team. Messam is an insult and Reid a show pony. One nz player in the backline not mentioned is Savea. He should be in.Cant see a place for many abs in a world side. Proof is they were outplayed in many games this year but though ref assiatance and incredible luck managed to win.
That team is a complete load of crud.
Hey Cloudy Brained you really are carrying on about the whole racist bogan thing aren't you....................
It appears that you lack intellect to come up with anything more intelligible.....BUT YOU ARE A KIWI..... AND no doubt a typical loud mouthed testosterone laden one at that...
Well... that's sad news for you - I've got you kiwi women pegged as half obviously many other kiwi blokes hence why they all marry Aussie chicks............
lol -
booya
Good one Hakwa!
folau was the only wallaby standout which isnt hard to do considering how shit they have been under mackenzie and his too sweet diabetes rugby.
leigh half penny had a much better season and is deserved of the world XVs fullback spot.
my world 15 would have been,,,
1 a corbisiero (ENG)
2 bizzy (SA)
3 m castrogiovanni (ITL)
4 lady elizabeth (SA)
5 b retallick (NZL)
6 l messam (NZL)
7 s warburton (WAL)
8 k read (NZL)
9 a smith (NZL)
10 a cruden (NZL)
11 j savea (NZL)
12 w fofana (FRA)
13 c snake (NZL)
14 b smith (NZL)
15 l halfpenny (WAL)
my only changes would be brodie retallick for sam whitelock, j savea for g north.
unlucky to miss out are a strauss, d vermeulen, m nonu and i folau.
"Polyboy, New Zealand don't create backs like Willie Le Roux. You have backs that play the basics to fantastic standard,s but I don't see either Ben Smith, Julian Savea, Dagg, Conrad Smith, Nonu and Cory Jane creating chances like Le Roux. King Carter and Sonny Bill are the only players I can think of that can create something from nothing, get your horrible biasness away from here."
like what that saffa musem said about the first Bok and All Black encounter in his thread about the Bok experince, im hardly surprised to see u totally sharbok urself with this comment.
le roux has played well for the Boks, but never forget how easy the opponents were for the Boks in 2013.
do u remeber willie playing fullback against the All Blacks and wallabies???
no, cos he would have been killed.
the only reason saffas are up in arms with willie is cos saffas have F all good attacking backs, so when u have one finally come through on an attacking level like like where willie is, its only natural for the saffas to orgasm over willie, while the kiwis just laugh.
dagg, piutau, jane, b smith can all create and finish like willie, but unlike willie, we do it against the worlds best, not just against the likes of scotland , samoa etc.
and then theres willies defence, which IMO is why meyer didnt want to risk playing willie at fullback against the wallys or All Blacks, u only need to look at willie le rouxs last test against the All Blacks where he missed every single one of his tackles to know that his defnece is not even at ITM level, let alone spXV or RC/4nats.
ur not to blame for ur sharkbok like comments though, saffas are very inexperienced at identifying what makes a good fullback, and thats not ur fault, thats the Boks fault and the DNA of their rugby which has been historically a non enterprising snore fest, so just trust us on this tpoic, cos the average kiwi knows a thing or two about what makes a good exciting fullback,
Make your judgement over one match can only show one thing, you don't know rugby or you're trying to start an argument over nothing with no credible point.Humi
You need to shutup sometimes, your Kiwi bias is shown through with your noses poking out of your mouths because of how far you have your heads stuck up your arses.
Humbleness would go far in most Kiwi's lives, nearly as bad as the Welsh with how biased you are.
first off, i didnt give u permission to reply to me, so next time ask ok??? im pretty generous though and always have time lesser rugby minds such as urself, so chacnes are i would have allowed u to anyway,
"I never said anything about him playing fullback or wing, I just said he creates more chances than any of the All Black backs, which is true. Neither did I say finish tries, I said create chances as he's like a second playmaker."
secondly, just cos us say he creates more chances dosent mean he does.
and what exactly are the numbers shazza???
maybe one should takes ones advice and pull their own head form their own ass???
by numbers i mean like in the try assist department le roux had 8 try assists compared to daggs 7 for the season.
le rouxs 8 try assists were against scotland, pumas, italy and one against the wallys.
daggs try assists came against wallabies, france and england.
this dosent tell who created the most opportunities though, but it is worth noting that daggs try assists came against the powerhouse nations of world rugby, while all but one of le rouxs were against with due respect to those nations, piss easy barley in the top 10 minnow teams.
anyway, i look forward to reading the numbers which has u making such bold claims, but dont worry, im not expecting to see them, cos truth based on opinion is the majority of every saffas bloggers bread and butter,
Shezza chill man, this is a SA forum where SA bias is obviously rampant. We constantly have to read about how great SA,Bok rugby is and for some reason some posters seem to think SA forwards are the best in the world. Backs are what NZ has in abundance if we have an opinion that carries some weight its in attacking back play, something that SA does not have. However the Le Roux crack was a rub, but he is in no way a superior creative player to NZ backs, maybe your bias thinks he is, maybe in time he maybe.
Sasuke, you're barely worth responding everything you do on here is an attempt to troll Saffa's, get from me.
"If Le Roux played for the All Blacks he would get the credit he deserves."
thats stupid know nothing about backline play mentality at its best.
le roux and his current style would never be good enough for the All Blacks, his defence s complete and utter shite.
wracht the ellis park test and see ur hero miss every single one of his tackles, WTF is that all about???
i know le roux can attack and create some enterprising opportunities, but as plyboy has mentioned time and time again, its easy to look like an attacking genius when the rest of the team are attacking retards (bar habana).
NZ have a ton of players who can attack like le roux without being a defnesive mongoul.
andre taylor had a 2012 season which was a million times better then anything that le roux has ever done, and he couldnt even make the sqaud.
and while i do love to troll the locals, it only annoys u boys cos u know its the truth, le roux is far from proven and dont be surprised to see meyer hide him on the wing when the All Blacks come around to beat ur Boks again.
and heres another fact, cheetahs wont make the finals in the spXV, dont know who theyre playing, but their fixtures wont be anywhere near as easy as it was this year.
By the way did you polynesian types see how a Samoan player hold the ball againt the Argie players chest and the ref gave the Argie a yellow. TALKING ABOUT SEVENS SEMIS. This creative talent is endemic down that way. Bwhahahahahaha
Saffex - once again you seem to see things the way they are and are not blinded by the kiwis small mindedness -
The absolute irony of it all is that they'll have a go @ aussie and yet more than half who post on here LIVE here.... very foolish to bite the hand that feeds...
As for the gen y twat Sucsker - how did that rugby league final go???
Rememeber the one that your number one fanboy SBW (the world most overrated league player) got owned in?????!!!
hahaha - kiwis will come unstuck in rugby too (remember the 2013 Americas Cup??) -
and keep the talk up re Ewen - because FACT is the Aussies hadn't won 4 in a row since 2008.... nearly the entirety of Dumbass Deans' tenure....................... dumb kiwi coach now sacked the Aussies looking better team within HALF a season....
Cloudy-headed the evident hostility you have to anything and all things Australian is an obvious prejudice that comes from being the poor cousins who are very dependent on the feasting on the crumbs that fall off the Aussie table @ dinner time...
The fact your AIG farcical corrupt referee owning team keeps manipulating refs in one sport I admit is good work in a sense but the fact you aren't EVEN competitive in any other sport ESPECIALLY Rugby League..... shows so much......
Honestly, this bitterness is eating you up. There is a deep hatred inside you that goes beyond the historical rivalry between Aussies and Kiwis. There is something much deeper fuelling the flames. I suspect you know what it is but are far too ashamed to ever admit it on an open forum. I suggest you discuss whatever is bothering you with a medical professional before someone gets seriously hurt. This anger is not healthy and it raises serious questions about your mental stability. Seriously red, get some help.
lol Kiwinuke - hahaahaha another hombre in the hyena pack of matriarchal kiwis... quite balanced my friend - just don't put up with kiwi propaganda and... don't back down...
Something that Link is bringing to the wallabies....
as you and the cronies Shenzi, Banzai & Ed's of this forum will find out... they just need to be endorsed by AIG and its complete...
BTW I haven't worked out what the 'World IX' is yet??
Is that kiwi sheep kind of game?
1. Cloudy while you were still in nappies (if your parents could afford them) I was adding blogs to this website and kiwinuke and I enjoyed a little banter.
2. There is no way I would even bother to degrade myself to visit AIG.com so you got me confused with someone else there.
3. Mandela was a politician and as with all politicians there is more than meets the eye... Do some research on 'necklacing'...
4. Back in your cage now...
As for Oz a pretty good year. Rugby League Champions. Cricket on the rise and rugby also.Alas the abs are on the decline and not much else happens down nz way. Boating was a disaster as well and only one world boxing champ in over a 100 years. I appeal to all kiwis to try and up the dismal sporting performance of their country.
JW no more jealousy about Oz outperforming you guys year on year.
