The Stormers are looking to sign Argentina lock Manuel Carizza for next year's Super Rugby tournament.

According to Die Burger, the franchise is busy negotiating a deal with the 29-year-old.

The 2.02m, 118kg lock has played 36 Tests for Argentina and three so far in this year's Rugby Championship. He has also represented French club, Biarritz, on 113 occasions.

The Stormers are looking to bolster their second-row stocks following the departure of Andries Bekker to Japan.

Nice to have a solid no nonsense Pumas lock to partner Etzebeth. What with a front row of Kitshof, Liebenberg, Malherbe, Harris and Cilliers locks of Etzebeth and Carizza, and loosies like Burger, Fourie, Vermuelen, Elstadt, Rhodes and Kolisi the pack looks rock solid.

Thomas sign up the first chance you get.

Yep, I knew this was underway. Manuel was approached before the Mendoza game and there have been negotiations ever since. Manuel was playing as medical joker for Racing Metro 92 -- and as a matter of fact was offered a 2 year contract when Top 14 was completed, but he declined it as it required him to virtually neglect his Pumas career altogether.

I really hope the Stormers snatch him up. He's a great player -- quite big, but mobile and utterly confrontational -- a tackling machine. He does tons of work in the tight. It's quite interesting because he's more of a tighthead lock as opposed to a lineout kingpin like Andries Bekker. Despite this, he could make for an awesome locking partnership with Eben.

What the article does not say though, is that "Manucho" can also perform as blindside flank (like myself).
