RugbyMaestro supports Da Bulletjies but we won't hold that against him.....not in the short term anyway.

He is also an excellent Chess player. Welcome boet I hope the Bulls come good after the loss of Meyer et al.

On contrary, the Bulls are a fine side to support. And chess, the thinking man's game, I think Maestro will be a very good addition here.

Said in jest Alu....said in jest. I told RM that at the time while I'm struggling to kick his butt.

Well what mystifies me is how can a thinking man be associated with the bulle. Rings in their noses and horns on their heads. Naartjies throwing oaks etc!

as for thinking ...  i don't believe the team you support has anything to do with thinking, so people will always like some team that you dont approve of and you won't approve of theirs, However , its this rivalry that keeps the games interesting

Besides with the new bok  coach (Mr Meyer) we might just get some bulls on the bok team

Hopefully Meyer is beyond playing dud bulle players.

Maestro you have solved the problem for me. It has to be true that as for thinking ...  "i don't believe the team you support has anything to do with thinking", Hence  because thinking is not required it is possible for a thinking man to support the bulle in an unthinking way of course.

Maestro sure knows his stuff!

I guess thats going to be Meyers biggest challenge.

He has many supporters, but just as many doubters.

Im sitting on the fence here for a while. I think he is street smart, tactful, insightful and has the experience and results to back him up.

My biggest concern is his potential to play 1 dimension rugga, which he has enjoyed most of his success with.

As a provincial coach, those types of 10 man game plans work.

He had a lot of success using rough n tough forwards who kept the ball, With a great kicker (Morne and Derick) and 2 frighteningly quick wingers.

Now here is the tricky part... He knows how to put together a working class team and a safe game plan... but to beat the best we're going to need a bit more than working class (in my opinion).

His biggest challenge will be to expand his approach, allow for outside input (from his assistants) which is something i commend him for at the Bulls and to bring all 15 men into his attacking approach.

As mentioned in previous posts, im a fan... but I'm going to sit on the fence and let the results and style of play determine my thoughts in future.

Chippo sitting on the fence is an uncomfortable place to be and leads nowhere even you may believe it to be the safe route.

When Meyer had Todd Louden coaching the bulle backs they came to life and the bulle scored some great tries showing they could play creative rugby which, I agree is necessary.

Hence my contention that picking a good backline coach is crucial.

My oh my, don't we have a few strange remarkd here. From what I can remember, when Heyneke coached the Bulls, he had two "different" flyhalves at his disposal. The "kicking" Derrick Hougaardt, and the "running" Morne Steyn. It was said that he used that to alternate between a running game and a kicking game as and when required. These days, everybody believes that the "running" Morne has become the "kicking" Morne, despite stats upon stats proving the opposite. The Bulls' backline is still the "highest" or among the highest run scoring backlines in SuperRugby. A 10 man game plan with the most treis scored by back-line players?

Then we have another strange remark. Heyneke Meyer getting back-line coach Todd Louden onboard, who brought the Bulls back-line to life. Huhh? Todd Loudon was the defencive coach at the Bulls, ala Nienaber at the Stormers.

"........... the bulle scoring some tries............" Are you serious? Go look at the try scoring stats. How many times were your Stormers among the top try scorers in recent Super Rugby series'?

I think you may be using it for too many things in life.

Cera the number of tries the Stormers scored is irrelevant when considering the bulle. No red herrings please.

Louden was the bulle backline coach which inlcuded defense. A smart ozzie that one. All agreed he did a great job and the bulle backline fired.

A great backline coach is what the Boks need.
