Hieneke Meyer about to be sacked from Stade Francais

Ok, he has been useless at Stade Francis. The billionaire owner must be furious that no progress has been made.

Meyer started as the director of rugby, but was demoted to head coach in the first season. A director of "Sport" (for a rugby club) was appointed to take responsibility from Meyer. 

Meyer had already been given the biggest budget ever to buy a whole new team. The first thing that was clear was Meyer's selections are poor. He bought lots of forwards, but his backline was filled with second rate players. 

The director of "sport" got a few decent backline players, but then it became clear that Meyer could not coach a backline. (Without Willie Leroux and Fourie Dupreez he was clueless)

Morne Steyn remained as part of the player group, as did Fat Albert

The losses built up....

Then the Steroid Freak saga...also known as Heindre Staasen.  Meyer fought tooth and nail to steal Heinroidsen from the Bulls- eventually paying out a massive sum of money. Shortly after, this "player" punched a dentist, and later turned out he was a test tube love child of Lance Armstrong... 

Meyer has wasted lots of money. He is now in his second season, and it seems there is no plan B, or a plan A.  

A new coach will have to come in and start from scratch, get rid of the duds employed by Meyer.

Lets see what happens - the owners of NH clubs wants a return for their money and being number 8 in the Top 14 is just not good enough.   Even though I think he was a dud coach pm test level I would not like to see him fired by a club on the lower level.

I think he may be retained by  his club if he could get them into the Champions Cup next year - but that would be a hard nut for the club.    

Meyer has wasted lots of money.

Finally, seeing the light.

When the same remark was made months ago, it was summed up to anti SA feelings.

No worries, though, this SA coach keeps laughing his way off to the bank.

Anyone feeling they have extra cash to burn must trust SA white people to do the job. No disappointment.

They are able to squander any amount of wealth.

...Sounds like Heineken and the current coaching staff have been stood down.....obviously his talents are being wasted in France...

Paris - Former Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer has resigned from his position in charge of the French Top 14's bottom side Stade Francais, the club announced on Tuesday.

Meyer, who led the Springboks at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, quit Stade after losing seven from the opening nine matches of the season with local reports saying he had been sacked after less than two years with the Parisian outfit.

"It has been an honour to coach the club. I have had a great life experience coaching Stade Francais and I have loved my time in Paris," Meyer, 52, said in a statement. It was a lekker holiday". 

"It has always been my intention to do what is best for this great club," he added.

The former Bulls boss was given the backing of Stade's billionaire owner Hans-Peter Wild last week before Sunday's defeat to rivals Racing 92.

Stade have a league-leading budget of €40 millions and came eighth under his remit last season.

Newspaper Midi Olympique reported Stade's former players in Julien Arias and Laurent Sempere will take over the 14-time French champions on a temporary basis ahead of this Friday's European Challenge Cup match against Brive.

The pair follow ex-Stade centre Thomas Lombard in being appointed in off-field positions at Stade Jean-Bouin, after he was named general manager earlier in October.

Former Bok fly-half Morne Steyn, who won a league title in 2015 with Stade, told AFP a lack of squad unity was to blame for the poor results after playing his last game for the Parisians in the derby loss.

Meyer's assistants in ex-France prop Pieter de Villiers, South Africans Dewald Senekal Ricardo Loubscher and English defence coach John McFarland are also expected to leave.

2 for the price of 1. They just got rid of Morne, and now his mentor Meyer. 

The German owner of Stade Francais said earlier in the week that Meyer is a poor communicator, and the German said that he needs a translator to have basic meetings with Meyer.

Not to trample on Meyers grave and laugh at his misfortune, he has frankly not been up to scratch. It is a lot of money he has been given to buy his own players and management team, and he has not delivered.

Morne Steyn saying in published news this week that there is infighting in the team, is a poor reflection of a coach who got to select his own coaching management team and players. 

Not inheriting a situation as Jake White did at the Sharks and accepting all the players and coaching staff. At least Jake White got results at the Sharks. 

The club owner needs to act quickly. If not they will be relegated to the second division and he will lose interest and sell his toy. 

The proofs in the runs on the board.......Meyer has failed to deliver.

This is clearly coming sooner rather than later,   I am afraid the situation got out of hand and resulted from what always was a problem associated with Meyer innasmuch as -

*   he always had problems with squad and team selection especially with the Springboks and now also with Stade Francais;

*   he always had problems with really developing  winning game plans and especially variations in play; and 

*   his basic plans to reduce backline attacking play sabotaged a major component of modern rugby.

The French always like flair even if they cause their own downfall at times  and the game plan  of Meyer allows for no flair at all. 

I am sorry for Meyer - he always struck me as a gentleman - but he has always had serious limitations as a coach and this scenario will destroy future coaching jobs for him.   He is a better coach than De Villiers - yet see where he is at present being in the same situation as De Villiers,  Hope he gets a job from Supersport at least,

The next significant player departure from Stade is likely to be ------------ Sloth Willem Alberts???????
