Anybody who believes Marcel weighs 130 kgs take a look at him compared to Nyakane on the still at the start of the video. It's also clear Barrett never had a shot at Pollard, Smith was in the way. Finally look at Serfonteins miss on Conrad Smith...yes Jean screwed up but he had a full shot at Smith and got fended/ gassed.

I guess you don't like me Cheezer, but I think I'll be okay. And let me commend you on dropping the Cheezy Pollard....Pollard from your posts. It  only reminds us that you failed to recognize his potential while clinging to your avatar.

Bless the old man doesn't have a sense of humour. At least I don't try and persuade people that I was the first person that backed Pollard, now that was laugh. I'll stick to Goosen you can stick to... Morne Steyn...

You fibbed about the key ine-out Matfield failed to take and ulitmately let to an AB try that nearly sinked the Springboks.   That is on the highlight package as well.  lets get it clear Matfield never went high - the AB player went higher than him and took the ball away from the tired old man.   Forget about the hype and lookt the facts.
Problem is also that Goosen had an excellent match for Racing Metro and will be back in the Springbok squad - while Morne Steyn will not be.   Reinach is going to be back as well.   He was excellent in both tests when he came on from the bench - so despite your demonizing of him he is going to go places.   Must be rterrible to be unable to really evaluate player performances.

Look at the game moron - it was on any highlight pcakage shown by DSTV - happened roundabout minute 70 - when old man Matfield was out of gas completely.   Why did you fibbed about that incident?

So it's not on the highlights package in this thread. So you never looked at it. Egg city again.

Deviation again.  It was not on this clip - but on all the highlight packages of DSTV.  Why don't you answer the question -  "Why did you fib about that incident?"

Balls - it shwed clearly in the game he was out-jumped.   You claimed he went high and the ball did not get to him.   He did not go high enough - the AB player went higher.   If you could not or do not wish to see that - why the fib?

Well I see after I have handed your head to you time and again "lies" have now become fibs.  Progress, but this is another case...the ball Matfield never took was thrown short.

The ball was not short - it was taken by the jumper opposite to Matfield - that was the key here.  Matfield by minute 70 was too tired to jump properly - he ran out of gas before that.   Same happened in the Wellington test where he fumbled a ball that should have been used for driving maul purposes.
The commentators spoke of the Springboks going flat in the second half.   Look no further than Jannie and Matfield to see what happened.   They barely last 40 minutes - leave alone lasting 70.
Anyway that exuse you now come up with is absolute rubbish.   Meyer's hand was below that of the AB jumper opposite him - so the plain truth is he did not jump well enough - the tired old man.

Yes it was - Luatua is ten times the lock Matfield is at present.

Luatua is a flank old chap. But let's overlook that bit of egg. I asked you who it was because I remember the Luatua incident clearly. The ball was under thrown and low from Strauss, Matfield never had a chance. So much for tired legs.
And I'm off to catch some zs just in case you think I'm ducking any of your nutty challenges. Speak to you tomorrow you old coot.

It's not Matfield's job to secure lineout ball when he is not the target of the thrower, and Matfield is not the target every time. If I recall correctly it was Vermeulen in the Luatua instance, although I may be wrong as I've only seen that incident live and memory lies. Can't be bothered to go scrolling through a video without game time to find it now.

Nutcase - Luatua is a player who started off as lock amany times and played for the Blues and the All Black as a flank - in their case as a blindsider.   When Thrush was injured - the AB's brought on Messam and moved Luatua to lock and used Messam as blindside flank - did you miss that plank?   In that specific case he was opposite Matfield and they both jumped for the ball - he jumped higher than Oupa Matfield.   Did you miss that as well like so manyother things on the field of play -  Your Thickness?
That is why Luatua beat Vermeulen earlier in a line out and beat Matfield in that specific case.   Hell - but you are dim.

ou maaaikie please the main thing re lineouts is not jumping its lifting. matfiled has been alinout sucess simply because at 106 kg he is realtively very light and his props can get him up in the air very quickly and being a stringbean very high. You are not going to get higher than matfiled unless you are Bekker.

if someone did it was probably the props fault or a timing/throw in issue. You dont have to be full of energy to be lifted high in the lineouts. A jump itself doesnt take a lot of energy. Right at the end of the game matfiled was still making tackles so his energy levels are okay.To me matfiled is not a good all round lock seriously lacking in grunt and physical impact. But your conclusions re the lineout dont sound right to me.

You are probably correct - but fact is Matfield flopped in that crucial line-out, same as he did in the Wellington test. Could be for the reasons stated by you - but for a prop to lift soemone - even if he weighs 106 kgs - there neds to be upward mobility and the question remains - was there any?
Matfield on Saturday made a enough tackles - but I did not particularly noticed tackles in the last 15 mintus of the game.

Yes. Vermeulen was the jumper in that lineout.

But the theory was good while it lasted!

There were two important line out losses and both involved Luatua.   The first one was on a throw-in aimed at Vermeulen (The Truth is correct in that case) - the second throw-in was aimed at Matfield and he was out-jumped by the very same luatua - who was as a result of the Thrush injutry moved to the lock position.
