pretty dangerous and sad precedent... cant help but once again think this is all part of some conspircy... 

Hodge may not be the most attacking winger but can kick and gives good field position to wallabies... 

Given that the numerous kiwi nationals were involved in this witchhunt I can only think that they, IRB and powers that be want to disadvantage Aus so that they finish 2nd in the pool - making them play the english (likely) in the quarters...

either way its another joke from my perspective and would say this about any player from any country given three weeks for that kind of tackle...

 especially when Read and numerous others get away with equally dangerous and more cynical play...

We should stop expecting consistency and fairness from rugby. It's not going to happen, ever. We were bitching about these things 20 years ago, we'll still be bitching about them 20 years from now.

Red....I do agree that the ban was rather excessive with respect to  incidents that happened in later games and no players being cited.

Must be that the Green and Gold/Yellow outfits stand out to much!

Just one question - why was Read not investigated for what he did to Du Toit?   To my mind that was worse than the incident Hodge was involved in. .    

Horse manure, intent or outcome has nothing to do with it. Washing line tackle is bad enough, but to do it to take out a de fender is inexcusable. Cynical off the ball that should not be part of a professional sport...it's only illegal if you get caught.  Bent Read indeed.

Which incidentally is largely controlled by kiwis and poms... and moreso their sponsors.. follow the money hey...

Clive Woodward come out and said no way should it have received any attention other than 50/50 yellow on the day.

Look forward to the salty tears when kiwi or poms get pinged by their own standard (when it finally happens...)

To grab any player around the neck to stop him without him being the ball carrier is a transgression of any rule of rugby and is probably one of the major reasons why World Rugby issued a statement dealing with sub-standard reffing in the game on Saturday,  There were other problematic reffing issues in the AB-Springboks game that contributed to the statement as well.

Although there were instances of problematic reffing in other games as well - the Garces performance was consistently sub-standard - so lets leave it there.      

So looking at the facts and these ARE the facts:

*RWC issued statement apologising for the poor reffing - No doubt highlighted in SA v NZ

*That poor reffing assisted NZ to now have dream run through to Finals and makes SA likely face off against Ireland in the QFs... (caveat - missing those tackles in mid field may have cost the game more so than reffing - but one will never know)

(hate to predict it... but Saffas may need to prepare for more poor reffing (eg Bryce Lawrence 2011 performance) in this QF game v Ireland... just be ready... you heard it here first btw...

*Same time Aussies copped a high-fiving, anti-pocock kiwi ref, and, referral to judiciary for borderline high / clumsy tackle - now losing a player for 3wks in the build up to biggest pool game possibly in the tournament for them.

*The Poms must fancy themselves more against Aust than Wales as many a Pom jumped on the bandwagon calling for this suspension... setting up dangerous precedent which well may come back and bite top tier nations.. funny thing is I think Wallabies will beat the welsh anyway...

*Whole thing reeks of conspiracy and dumb supporters are meant to just tow the line... which of course we probably just will.................

....redsman, hodges is'nt that big a loss so i would;'nt cry too much...replacing him Haylet petty an improvement being a fullback always a better defender and great attacking player ...OZ has has some depth thanks to four years cheika has been experimenting...could be a blessing in disguise so lets just cancel the pity party..

No chance.

The response will be split as follows...

First, there is always lots of off the ball stuff happening in any given game. It happens all the time and the refs are human so they don't see everything.

Then you'll say something, which will be followed by the second part of the answer, probably from a different person that gave the first part.

It will go like this.

What about PSDT's high tackle. Then that should also have been a yellow.

Then you'll ask how it's possible for the ref, both touch judges and the tv ref to miss two of the biggest men on the field being involved in an incident where not one of the officials was unsighted and was clearly seen by almost every else, even the fans that gave a loud roar when it happened. 

That's when you'll be told to shut up, you're whinging, crying, tinfoil hat time etc etc

As for why a cynical high drag back, or Moody's shot on Marx aren't sited...well that's just the cherry on the cake.

The difference between Moody's shot on Marx and the Oz/Fiji incident...Marx wasn't KO'd.
