As reported in August, former Highlanders and All Blacks hooker Andrew Hore has come out of retirement to help Southland.

The 36-year-old hung up his boots at the end of 2013 after winning 86 caps for New Zealand.

Southland lost hooker Jason Rutledge to a long-term injury, with Hore now linking up with the ITM Cup side as cover.

They take on Tasman on Wednesday and Manuwatu on Saturday.

Hore's last competitive match was New Zealand's dramatic late victory over Ireland in Dublin last year, when they finished the year unbeaten in 14 Tests.

He did however play for the Barbarians against England back in June.

He has one more cynical foul left in him. Ask that Welsh lock that he knocked out. The most brutal act in the professional era. The animal

That was indeed utter crap , but eye gouging and that whole test match against the English in 2002 by the team led by Krige was ,not good shall we say .Hore is an utter sh!thead but dont get all fecking sanctimonious when you have plenty of prime examples on your side .I recall that J.Duplessis ars.ehole getting away with walking up behind Moore last year reaching around Moores head while he was pinned and gouging his eyes .And Greyling ? Oh thats ok it was on Maccaw eh ?Glass houses and all that .I dont even regard Hore and that Loe barstard as being ABs with their disgusting behaviour.

Wardad it is mostly innocent until proven guilty. Like if it looks like a player is eye gouged and after the match is fine- well then surely they are not eye gouged.
Hore put their lock in hospital. Apparently the guy had amnesia and could not even remember days before the match. Not sure if this player is even involved with rugby anymore.
Bakkies Botha although an animal, has never seriously hurt anyone with illegal play.
I think a player like this should just be disposed off, regardless of what country they are from.

Sharkie, BBCs wide angled panaromic video footage showed that particular lock deliberately running an obstructing line preventing Hore from getting to the ruck and at one stage even checking where Hore was running so he could cross his path - I ask you this-->if Hore had no mercy on innocent beautiful baby seals, do you reckon he'd have mercy on a tall ugly cheating lock. I believe lessons were learnt on that day.

It was a disgusting act but overall I don't remember this being typical of his play. In general I remember him as one if the characters of the game.
