How difficult can it be to select a Bok squad

How bloody difficult is it to select a decent Bok side? Why on earth as the national coach would you be stupid enough to snub your local players in favour of washed up hasbeens based overseas, some of which have been playing rugby in bloody Japan. What message does the send to the lads who have spent the season slogging it out in the S15. How on earth can a fat, old, unfit Steenkamp be a better selection than Kitshoff or even Mellett of the Bulls, same can be said of v/Zyl and Reinach being snubbed in favour of du Preez. How more obvious does it need to be, before the penny drops with Meyer that the likes of Kirchner, Basson, de Jongh, Kruger and Franco v/d Merwe are not up to test rugby…….how much longer for Meyer to realise that we need to move on from Morne, Pienaar, Vermaak and Alberts if we really want to compete? The selection of the squad is a simple process, select your incumbents coupled with the best youngsters coming through. We have a core of experience in JP, Habana, Frans, Hougaard, Beast, Jannie, Bismark, Strauss, Chiliboy, Brussouw and Louw, we have established or on the road to established youngsters in Willie, Taute, JJ, Serfontein, Goosen, Lambie, Coenie, Malherbe, Nkanyane, Steph du Toit, Etzebeth, Kolisi, Coetzee, Vermeulen and Arno Botha. Some would say that we should still be leaning on Jean, Morne, Pienaar, Flip and Alberts – I can live with some at a stretch. Therein lies the core of our Bok side with the likes of Visser, Rhule, v/d Heever, Mapoe, de Allende, Venter, Jantjies, v/Zyl, Reincah, Groom, Kitshoff, M.v/d Merwe, F.Kirtsen, Herbst, Mellet, Cooper, C. Visagie, de Jager, J.du Plessis, Willemse, D.Fourie, Labascagne, Elstadt, v/d Walt and most of all CJ Stander also pushing for honours.

Saffex It is not difficult at all - but we are dealing here with a nutcase called M in capital letters. M stands for Meyer in this case - his active supporter M stands for Mozart. Look the key to selection should be proven performance - but the key to Meyer's selection does not look at that at all. He has a weird game plan - that did not work last year, but he still insist on that plan. Now he his another high on ball recovery in break down situations and think the problem can be solved by an expert who could find the technical solution - but he jeopardise himself by selecting proven failures who are too slow to get to breakdowns and hope to achieve results. I think Meyer has a plan called strategic kicking - that is his only plan - so he has to get strategic kickers in place. That makes it essential to select Pienaar and/or Du Preez at scrummie and Morne at fly half. However, both Morne and Pienaar's strategic kicks have been aimless rather than strategic and it is likely that Du Preez will be in the same boat. The plan did not work last year - and because of player selection - the plan will not work this year. No wonder the All Blacks supporters are in all out support of Meyer - the bigger fool he is - the better their chances. Hasnsen and McKenzie must really be shaking their heads in disbelie3f and smiling from ear-to-ear because they have an opponent that plays direcftly into their hands all the time.
