I have seen so many posts about how the Boks should play and how they likely to play. Latest being from Carpetmuncher claiming Heyneke looks to be going into his shell and employing a defensive effort through the boot.
Its simple really. We need more of the same as last week. We need to be more clinical than the AB's. If we try "change" our whole game plan now and be more like the AB's, we will lose. We are not going to beat the AB's at a game they have played for years in just 7 days.
Last week our backs looked good because our forwards were so dominant, they could not do anything else but go forward too. We took some damn good options on when to go wide and when to keep it tight. We need more of the same. It really is about earning the right to put it through the hands.
Look at England last year. Perfect style of rugby to beat the AB's. Smash them upfront and even England's pretty boring backs looked like attacking machines. I mean, Brad Barritt was running a mock. It all comes down to pressure. Despite contrary belief amongst the Kiwi supporters, there team also does not like pressure. Israel Dagg is hugely ineffective under too much pressure.
We need to defend hard. No missed tackles like last week. We need to chase every kick and make it a good one. Conrad Smith and Nonu are so used to be in control on defence. Smash them upfront and force them back. They much less effective that way.
All easier said than done but our current game plan is the only thing that will work with this group. We just need to execute our game plan better than the AB's execute theirs and that comes down to pressure. AB's game plan can not work if their forwards are not dominant. Aaron Smith has not been tested behind a pack going back. We need to make it hell for him!
