This must be the greatest number of Awards the champion player of them all P-S du Ioit could attain:-

1  SA Rugby Player of the Year       (Selected with due regard to Public Input)

2  World Rugby Player of the Year   (Selected by a panel of experts appointed by World Rugby)

3  Brightrock Player of the Year      (Selected by the Professional Players in SA)

4  Brightrock Defender pf the Year  (Ditto)

5  Brightrock Forward of the Year   (Ditto)

The only other award he could get is the Laureus Award of the Best Sportsman of the Year award.   The Springboks won the team award in 2007 and is likely to win the 2019 award.   It is quote possible that Du Toit would win the Laureus Sportsman of the Year Award.

In Du Toit we have a sportsman showing all the attributes of a great sportsman - Humility and Friendly - respected by everyone he meets,   A hardworking Sportsman of impeccable conduct.

Years ago I forecasted that he will the best rugby player in SA and I started using a pic of his as my avatar on site.   I was 100% justified in doing that and there is no way I was wrong about my forecast on the future of this great player.

CONGRATULATIONS PIETER-STEPH - LIKE YOUR GRANDFATHER YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HONOURED AS A GREAT SA RUGBY PLAYER.

Yes a great player indeed. Amazing year for Steph. Needs to be managed well as he played a huge amount of rugby!

All I can charitably say is I told you so.

Amazing what a failed lock can achieve if he is given the #0 role, with zero set responsibilities. I'm guessing as many awards as the fake media can invent.

I mention the term "drama queens" above and why some site members are drama queens -

a) Want to seek attention b) Have some emotional dysfunction and it's their duty to make life harder for everyone around them c) Just simply can't get over it d) Extremely miserable and insecure e) All of the above Drama queens can't keep

None has to do with media hype and fake news - since the media was never involved in the selections made - the drama queen involved is suffering from b), c) and d) above to an extreme level..

He already thoroughly deserves his aka - Shifty Schiff-Strzok,   Now we can add Madame Drana Queen Mozart I

I wonder ... maybe world standards have dropped. Selecting Du Toit for all these awards is rather misleading. It's not as if he stands head and shoulders above the rest.

He's a good player ... the Goats are lucky to have him ... but the world's best ... nah, not by a long shot.

He's just fortunate that the Goats won he WC. That's the only reason that both he and Rassie won their awards. Had they lost the WC it would have been a completely different person receiving the "coach of the year" and the "player of the year" awards.

CC

Not all that clear -   The Springboks in fact played 12 tests - won 10, drew 1 and lost 1.  That alone was enough to get the team of the year and coach of the year awards.   All the other teams lost 2 or more tests,

As to the Player of the Year award  I am always amazed at how much more site members know about rugby than experts do.  The Player was selected by a panel of 8 ex-test players - of which 1 was from SA,  Nobody knows how they arrived at the decision and what norms they used,  Once they decided on the player there is no way that anybody else can change it.

Whether members like it or not Du Toit is the player of the year for 2019 and that remains the fact accepted by World Rugby.   Other people might have different ideas about the decision and they obviously can express it.   But they cannot change it - and that is the end of the story,

Obviously they can go nuts like Mozart did and include a player like Mostert - who was not in the starting line-up for the last three tests the Springboks played in,  because of failures in the AB test in the WC and his weakness in line-outs - where he was cut out of line-out jumping in the RC test against Argentina after failure in the AB RC match in Wellington.
