So how is it done?   It is called determination of quotas in respect of team selection..
In the case of school teams the quota is not more than 7 Whites and that com, prises the team as now playing in a four-nation series now under way against England, Wales and France and the results thus far.has been disastrous.    The SA Team lost against Wales and France and the chances of beating England is zero.
This after the foreign teams has b\never beaten the SA teams since inception of the series years ago.   The quota system was tightened massively last year and the result is obvious - the team has been weakened and is not representative of talent at schools.
So how is the joke made up,   In the starting backline there sis just one White player -0 the flyhalf,    If he was of any use it would have helped - but the guy is a duplicate of the useless Morne Steyn.   He kicks away everything.   Maybe he should not - but passing the balls to the backs outside of him is a disaster,   They cannot manage to catch balls and the knock-ons are endless.   And their defense is worse - centers of opposing teams run through them like they are not there.
Amongst the forwards there are 6 white players - the scrums are weak and the  line-outs so-so - bad news all round.   Lets put it bluntly - the forwards try and the backline f#cks up everything.
I watch part of the games and when I saw that the SA team is hopeless and NOT competitive I changed channels.   Tom and Jerry represent better entertainment than the clowns in the SA team.
This is supposed the teams from which future talent is drawn - really tragic - there are  NO talents in that team.

It's very much the same in our Goats side.

They select an assortent of quotas and fill in the gaps with sub standard whiteys so that the quotas aren't shown up as pathetic. Guys like Coenie, Malherbe, Lood, HouGat and Jesse Kriel are all in the mix, supposedly the best whiteys we have.

It helps them hide chumps like Beast, Bongi, Oupa, Kolis, Paige, Jantjies, Mapoe and Rhule.

Yes we do see a few quality player in Marx, Etzebeth and Du Preez ... but that's all part of their ploy.

There is no other reason why guys like Vorster, Janse van Rensburg and Combrinck aren't in the side. Their talent would upset the racist policy in place.

What really boggles the mind is that we have talented boys of colour like Marutllule, Am and Nkosi sitting on the sidelines. They can't even get the supposed "quota" selection right. Talk about not knowing your @rse from your elbow.

Our cricket team has the same issues facing them ... in fact every team sport representing us has been tainted with this racist bull sh!t. Look at the athletics.

It really cracks me up to see how guys like SharkBok, DA and KingCorn buy into this propoganda. The media sells it to us and they accept it as fact. It's guys like them that fill our stadiums ... it's guys like them that support the racist policies in place without even knowing it. My garden spade has more sense than them.

Is it really that difficult to think for ourselves?

Beandip may be a pain in the butt sometimes, but the one thing you gotta give the guy credit for is that he doesn't just open wide and swallow whatever's presented to him.

He has his own thoughts on things ... how can you not respect that? Yes I know it's a little hazy at times ... but what can you expect with all that toxic broccoli in his system.

We are truly a third world country.

I won't debate quota's with you.

Tell me something CC

Simple question.

If the national coach identifies a player with exceptional talent and wants that player to join the Springbok training squad.... just join.. not even play.

How long do you think a process like that takes, until he possibly ends up in the training  squad?.

It's very much the same in our Goats side.

It helps them hide chumps like Beast, Bongi, Oupa, Kolisi, Paige, Jantjies, Mapoe and Rhule.

I have crossed out the quotas. Rudy Page can't even start for his Curry Cup team. He was very poor for the Boks in his last game. Faff DeKlerk would have made a much better impact player. Bongi is decent in the loose- but not big enough for the core tight phases of the game. Oupa is ok- but I don't see him as a Bok.
Jantjies is the best-attacking flyhalf in SA. Beast is the most experienced prop.  Beast is past his best- but not a quota.
Kolisi was the best player in the French tests earlier in the year. I was not a major fan in the past, but he has developed his all round game.
Mapoe is pretty good.
Calling merit players of colour, as quota players is being a simpleton.  What next, was Bryan Habana in his prime a quota player?

They idea of including a player in the National squad, based on his future potential, is plain BS. A player should be included in the Bok squad for one reason and one reason only. Because the coach honestly believes that he is the best player in the team context. Including a player for any other reason, be that political (quota), window dressing, favouritism, provincialism, etc, is nothing short other than dishonesty and fraud. You cannot select a team on that basis and then, with a straight face, expect the supporters to blindly support the team. At some stage somebody needs to call a spade a fcuking shovel.

I 100% agree with you on this Ceradyne

I don't agree with a lot of the past and current selections, but I would like his answer to that question I posed above since he professes to know so much, and even has a spade that has more sense than some supporters.

Hence, my question to CC above

It is so easy to mouth off, but let's get a bit of context behind the whole issue.

In addition, a player should not be in the squad to learn new skills. The idea that a national coach has the responsibility to teach certain skills, is preposterous. A player should be in the national side/squad because he already has the required skills sets. The national squad is not the place where those skills sets should be learnt. The national squad should mainly be focussed on determining strategy and tactics and the training/practising of the chosen strategies and tactics to perfection.

Tell me something, DA .. which "player with exceptional talent" are you referring to?

Rudi Paige? Bongi? Oupa? Ramond Rhule?

They were all selected on merit, right? Isn't that what you said?

Why would this "exceptional" player need to be excluded from the match 23?

Let me guess ... to learn the culture?

LOL!!!!!!!!!

Why not draw him in on the bench and introduce him that way?

Why do a Heyneke Meyer on him when you can expose this "exceptional" talent gradually as is the norm globally from the bench.

Huh???

Tell me DA ... How many years did it take Jake to introduce Bryan Habana to test rugby?

What happened on his debut?

How about Jean-Luc Du Preez? How long before he was selected to the match 23? Did he impress on his debut?

You see it's stupid comments like that that makes me understand why you're so reluctant to post on rugby related matters.

That is why I suggested you rather continue with your personal attacks ... which by the way need a little work too.

I am a great admirer of merit selections in any sports codes - hence my admiration for sportsmen like Willemse, Bosch and Van Niekerk.
I do not care who is selected to represent the Springboks provided they are the best players in SA irrespective of race.   When that does not happen it tarnish the name of SA sport and is destructive.
If all the players in the Springbok squad arte not White - and they are indeed the best in SA - I would have no problem in supporting the team.   At this stage I show some critical support - but not wholesale support, but would not bother to go and see teams npot worthy of representing SA.
The problem remains - with that kind of selection we would soon be out of the top 10 in the rugby world and would be on par with the SA soccer team - a disgrace to the country.
However, it seems that in a re cent opinion poll 74% of the voters indicated that thequota system is unacceptable - so sometime sooner rather than later the Government fools and stooges may also realize that.

The demise is in part political....unworthy selections, demotivation of worthy players etc. But It also has to do with the sheer stupidity in our rugby community......the early Bok colours for unproven players, the propensity to hound great players into leaving, coaching that leaves vast weaknesses, like the defensive play of the Cheetahs. .. We have the stupidest rugby press commentators and fans....they do a lot of famage.

One has to wonder about the sheer Stupidity in the latest comment.   Nobody hounded out the non-performing over the hill players out of the game - they hounded themselves out through under-performance
The greatest coaching weakness is not defense - it is the near total absence of any attacking play - especially under Meyer - but also found in respect of Coetzee last year.   Meyer was famous for two things - the total absence of a backline strategy and aimless kicking by the half-backs.

Per normal you are totally ignorant and harping on defense only.   What about physical fitness, prevention of aimless kicking, positive attacking plays to overcome the poor try scoring record of the Springboks, poor coaching by Meyer and Coetzee and the selection of player s they are familiar with.
The defensive mania is amplified by the idiot who espouses the selection of players like Morne Steyn and De Jongh and an effort by him to hide the defensive lapses of his two heroes.   The fixation on defense lost out completely when he damned the main try scorers and try assisters in tests last year - as well as a record of lies and falsifications about what he called defensive lapses in the past in respect of certain players.
The above let to a disastrous performance record in 2015 and since then it has gone downhill.

I vividly remember one such example.
As I left ANZ stadium after another Bok loss, a fan happened to be walking out alongside of me, I didn't know the fella but he had obviously noted my Bok jumper, in passing I lamented the loss and before I could finish he prompted a solution......his solution was that the Bok backline needed a Jew boy!!! Cry me a river! Apparently the Boks never lost a test when they had Syd Nomis.......I'm assuming Nomis was a Jew.

CM if you do not realize the damage that the transformation policy has done to Springbok rugby then you are barking up the wrong tree.
It has degraded the standard of the game due to POC being selected that are not international standard players and in so doing kept players who do have the skills out of the team or squad.
Sure there are players of color that deserve selection on merit and have delivered and justified their selections.
But to enforce a color policy of inclusion irrespective of standards at international level is not only unfair to the team but also to the player who is forced into a team when he does not have the skills.
I do not know any rugby supporter who would not support a Springbok team made up of POC if selected on merit.
