From the moment Stephanie lost one of the very few lineout balls thrown at him things started to unravel. But Allende reprised his match losing qualities again......slow to react and then horribly gassed by Mckenzie, he makes amends by deliberately making late contact. Beyond stupid. ... Massive games from Etzebeth, Marx and Kitshoff......Pollard in a few short minutes showing why he is a test quality player. We have the men. Face it Kolisi was useless, Dreyer beyond incompetent. Jantjies a gift to the opposition. Our wings were porous and our centres simply can't make a clean break. .. But we should have won the test....the mo was with us, NZ was tiring after travelling as far as they have in the last 10 days, and kingpin Barrett was off. This was our best chance in years and we blew it. Yes it was a great test bla bla......we have to win these. .. The reffing was abysmal but the big decisions....Crotty's try and Allende's card were right, contrary to our commentators. What happened on the deck was at times a totally different sport....but it evened out.

Correction - Mallet says he phoned Mark Lawrence and that was NO tryCorrection Du Toit was outstandingCorrection -Allende is not that slow McKenzie found a gap and not many players would catch him in that situation.Correction - commentators say the Red was bull and even a penalty was uncalled for.

The revolving cart horse Delande arguably threw the game.

 The penalty was deserved.

Twitter is going amok: SA proud of the defeat.

The fact is for once we played Springbok rugby.....created forward pressure, kicked for territory.....limited the iffy offloads. And hey presto.....we could and should have beaten the All Blacks. But wait in a few days it will be described as our new game plan. .. We could be competitive in any game against any opposition if we play to our stregths which we did today......why is this so hard to grasp.

NZ rugby was not competitive. The whole SA performance depended on NZ lack of competitiveness.

As to matching other rugby nations, it was already the case before this game. Which does not matter since other nations play loser rugby too.

We still need to get rid of Dreyer. Get a top 6 although Kolisi is a reasonable test player.Oh for another Eben!Play du Preez and Du Toit at 7. Keep Kolisi for now?Hopefully Pollard will come back with a vengeance.
Need a bigger wing
Centers are not too bad and are improving. Who else. Janse Van Rensburg could be given a shot. Willie Le Roux wonder how he is playing.

For goodness sake Beeno, give up on weee willie. He hasn't played a decent test in years and Boks need to identify young players and develop them for the RWC.
JW being charitable to Beeno in the interests of harmony on the Board.

Centres are toothless....9 Kriel runs for 11 metres and no defenders beaten. Step did some crash ball and got some space but created nothing out of it. .. Wilco for Dreyer, get Willemse back to lock with Etzebeth.....not sure about Coetzee either, so much effort, so little gain. Start Pollard, the Boks were a different team when he took the ball hard to the line....he created the du Preez try. . A truly dangerous wing like Ioane would transform our back play. Perhaps Nkosi is the man but after all the false starts like Jumbo the proof has to be in the pudding.

Pollard should play 12 for now. Wilco at 3 and at least one bigger wing. The AB's were a bit off, but the Boks played with a bit of heart and forced them unto a few errors. Dreyer arguably cost us the match.
Marx was the best player on the pitch and should have been rewarded, regardless of the end result.

Marx played one of the greatest performances at hooker ever ever witnessed. Of course he should have been man of the match. Only quotas and rank stupidity can stop the Boks having a fabulous pack. There are options with the backs. Pollard, Combrinck and some bigger black wingers. Rohan Janse van Rensburg could be given a shot. Under the proper Coaching and non political selections the Boks could go places.I told Cloudy I was optimistic about this game and but for a bad ref decision and some rotten luck we would have won by ten points or more. The optimism was based on a better pack apart from the hapless Dreyer.
