I haven't read one complaint on this site. How is that possible?
There are one or two on the ROAR of course but even there it's more of a whimper than a ROAR.
IMO the refs were pretty good, none impacted the outcome of the game. There are a few calls that could be debated but by no means were there howlers. Well done officials!
Peyper was his irritating self, and he got a few calls wrong, but he was the least of Aus' problems.
Never was a fan of Peyper...in the early days of his career as ref he was whistle happy ( the Pied Peyper lol) but he's a lot better now...sometimes he can be difficult to understand but "hates" Ozzies is a figment of biased imagination.. maybe to his interpretation/understanding of the rules...perhaps it's just the way Australians play sometimes that he interprets as negative...often we think refs are biased but I really do not think so...I think it's up to a team to get to know refs inside and out...like Richie Macaw did...lol.
Having said that I think he did alright in this game...not less perfect than most but as fair as your conscience allows you to discern.
If you ask fans who the best refs you going to get a dozen or more different answers. Most will probably agree on Nigel Owens but even he too can be irritating (especially to the players) due to his tendancy to lecture and draw attention to himself...but he is almost dead-centre to fairness. He's the type of ref we should have in Super finals and of course in the ultimate final of WC.
I think SH finals too should have NH refs...that includes the Championship and Supers and perhaps the 6N and NH club finals SH refs.
