Argentina coach Santiago Phelan has cut his squad down to 26 players that will travel to Soweto and play South Africa at Soccer City next Saturday.

 

 

The Pumas, who have already beaten a New South Wales side 29-27 in La Plata, face the same team on Friday ahead of making the trip.

 

Named in the travelling squad is Juan Martín Hernández, Gonzalo Camacho, Juan Imhoff, Felipe Contepomi, Juan Fernández Lobbe, Patricio Albacete and Marcos Ayerza.

 It should be a good game. Argentina will get better each year.

Although as we are playing at home, I doubt that the boks will lose.

The boks need to get their game plan implemented to build confidence for the rest of the tournament.

The scrums will be interesting with the new laws, and Argentina are probably the best scrummagers in the 4 nations.

Very optimistic to see how to new scrum laws go.  

 As I said on another topic, I wish the Boks the very best!

Rugby needs the Boks fighting it out at the top of the log & with the spirit of past Bok teams. We don't need a Bok team with an identity crisis and full of self doubt. My guess is the Boks will prevail and get the win and build from there. There is simply too much talent in SA (and I include players overseas, lol) for you to be down for too long.

Unfortunately we have a stupid coach ... who won't select the talent we have.

He prefers to get geriatrics like Du Preez from the wilderness back into the mix. He uses feeble excuses like an injury to useless Hougat to justify Du Preez inclusion.

I dread seeing his match 22.

Already find myself siding toward the Pumas.

Boks will be too strong at home for the Argies but need to be wary of the return bout as per last year.

CC, surely you can't want to get rid of Meyer so badly that you'd support Argentina against your team??

its a bit of a bummer that tomas didnt make the squad, hope he gets a call in at some stage, what a rush that would be, playing against one of the top 3 teams in the world.

Boks should win this match, i mean SA at home and on mandela day??? but the team that gets selected will detrimne how much of an effort it will be for them.

Return game going to be this fucking awful bumper car match again.  

Moolaa ... I'm just frustrated with him. I long for the day when we select the best we have and give the best in the world a proper go. If we are beaten then congrats to them ... at least we know that they were truly better and that we have work to do.

Now we have to contend with a 2nd rate team ... again ... because of a fool at the helm ... and still somehow cheer for them enthusiastically.

I struggle with this.

There are no more excuses. Not poor refs, not quota selections ... just no more excuses.

The Bok coach is part of the team so if we lose, we lose as a whole.

It drives me insane.

Well, the Boks chances have just gone up ten-fold.

Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe, our Captain and leader, will not play this weekend. He suffered a calf injury in the last game and has not recovered in time.

As if that was not enough, Patricio Albacete, our Vice-Captain and an absolutely KEY player for us, is also in doubt for the game. He did not play in any of the warm up games.

Our first choice loosehead, the world-class Marcos Ayerza, is also out and did not even fly to SA.

All bad signs. But I still hope the guys can rely on their system and remain calm under pressure.

Scrums are without the hit so having a WC prop or a shitty prop drom Zimbabwe won't make a difference anymore.
