When Ross Cronje was initially brought into the Lions setup, I almost puked!  He reminded me of a little old man ridden with arthritis (no disrespect to you Moz)
When he was then selected for the Boks, I felt the end is near!

  1. He never came across as a particularly astute tactician.
  2. He appeared to lack urgency.
  3. He appeared to be slow (and still appears to be slow) on the break

However, here I am, 4 years later... acknowledging that I got this one wrong.

Since he has taken over as the number 1 scrummie at Ellis Park, the Lions backline looks settled, calm and organised.

  1. His passing game is really fantastic! Better than Faf's.
  2. He is also a lot cooler under pressure. Faf appears to have a chink in his armour when under pressure!
  3. His mistake ratio per game is also very low!
  4. He uses his runners very well too!
  5. Kicking game... on par with anyone else in the country at the moment!

Ross, thank you for proving me wrong!
Please continue to do so!!
Best of luck against the Saders!

Not gifted with natural physical abilities, but he is an intelligent player.

 Also made a few useful snipes. personally I still think Faf is the better player. Everything speeds up when Faf takes the field. If you use him as sub give him thirty minutes.

 @beeno
I am a huge faf fan, but lest we not forget how faf crumbled when Aaron Smith put him under some pressure last year!

Cronje seems to be very chilled yet is on the ball for the entire 80!

Yes ... I think most of us thought of him as Faf's bench cover at the Lions ... and only that.

I never looked at him as Bok material. He certainly has matured since his first start for the Boks.

He has a much better pass than Faf and can easily compete with him regarding work rate and finding gaps in the defense with his sniping little runs.

He is key to calming Jantjies down and I hope the two have a fantastic match this coming weekend.

 @clean
Mate, this is me...
you were the one that baited me for so long because i'm dating your mom.

Non the less, i prefer the rugby chat myself...
Glad you agree re Cronje!

Apparently him and his twin (Guy) were magical together at 9 and 10 at school! Some kind of mental telepathy skills were shown.
