(This was copy-pasted from another topic, so more people could read it and discuss this issue, because all this blindfolded people are starting to piss me off)
You guys must be completely mental in this forum...not in one SINGLE
post have I seen the names "Venter" or "Lee" suggested for the national team...and by those names I mean the
FREE STATE CHEETAHS CENTER COMBINATION.
What the hell? Have you
even seen them play? They have heart, amazing skills, not to mention
true passion for the game and score butt loads of tries. It would be the
perfect pair for the Springboks...combinations are crucial, and those
two would give their heart and soul to play for their country.
BUT no...no no no. Let's give the jersey to:
- Kriel (who's not even a center)
- De Jongh (way past his time and predictable)
- De Allende (unfortunately his injury really took a tole, real shame)
I
mean, Nico Lee at 12 with François Venter at 13, the excitement levels
would go through the roof! For the second half, Van Rensburg would be
the "Barret factor", our impact player.
And since we're talking
about DESERVING Springboks, why does no one mentions Rhaymond Rhule, the
form winger this season? That man has insane skills and fills out some
of the quotas! If you want a colored player, he's simply amazing for the
job. That way we could drop Paige and bring in either PVZ (permanently)
and Shaun Venter from the Cheetahs.
And who the f*** is Ulengo anyway? He must be good for Currie Cup, but test level???

I must add: I agree with some people saying that the Handre Pollard/Faf de Klerk combination will be the ultimate pair in the future, once that's available the All Blacks will be in trouble.
Jesse Kriel for fullback (until Le Roux gets his shit together and brings back his Cheetahs flair, that he completely lost at the Sharks)

Quacky, did you notice the way the right hand side
of your opening post is covered by ads? That's
because you put up the youtube clip instead of
just providing a link to it.

Hey Rooinek, if I came off as a "forum thug", I'm not even close to that. It's just that I want to at least show you guys that there are other options. Sometimes it looks like we're limited to using "Stormers-Sharks-Bulls" players, when they are arguably some of the most boring sides...
I am a huge ALLBLACKS supporter, because of the speed of their game and their fair play (just look at the argies playing and then you can almost call the kiwis saints).
I mean, I don't want South African Rugby to crash like this: the quotas, the narrow-minded coach Coetzee and all-round lack of enthusiasm at the Boks camp is slowly killing their legacy. This last "victory" was simply embarrasing, the game was so monotonous I couldn't even finnish it, just like the Argentina second half (thanks pumas!)...
The brand of rugby showcased be the Lions and Cheetahs is simply astonishing, the problem is that the transition to test level is not being well introduced.
Springbok rugby doesn't need to ditch their old mantra: they can keep it in their forwards, but please give the young guns in the back a chance That's all I'm saying. We gotta drop some players, maybe sack the coach and invest in the other provinces, but in time Sout African rugby can flourish again and compete with New Zealand like they should!!!

The cheetas are playing some expansive rugby.
Clayton blommetjies has also been cutting the backline as an extra playmaker- adding options to what the extra 2 centres allready provide.
I have not even bothered to watch the Sharks who play like the Bulls now days.

Yeah, that team really is sync right now...Coetzee should probably think in the future and bring some players (even if they don't play) to the end of year tour. They would learn a lot and bring that experience next year South Africa is a great rugby nation, we just need to push the right buttons to get the engine going!

Welcome Quacky, yup, you should fit right in. If you think we are mental now wait until you meet my good mate Beeno
IMO Coetzee has to keep trying to build confidence in the team so I would go for wins by selecting whoever will more likely deliver this. Throwing young talent in against the ABs is not the way to go as these young guys need to be developed not destroyed. Boks coaches seem to throw their latest "miracle player" in the deep end & then he disappears through injury or remains an average player due to loss of confidence. This is not the way to develop a top team.

Yeah you're absolutely right, this match is too tight and too tough for miracle selections...let's just hope they innovate a little bit in the end of year tour, it's always a good stage to test young blood.

Quack ... ignore the fool Mozart. He tends to favour the old and useless. He knows as much about rugby as ... well ... Zuma knows how to govern the country properly.
His only purpose on this board is to boast to us commoners about his vast estates ... his incredible wine cellars ... and his assortment of top of the line sports cars.
In short ... the man's delusional and in desperate need of round the clock care. Sometimes he comes across as lucid but that's probably due to having taken his meds on time.
Back to rugby ... Venter is a fine prospect and I've said so on many occasions. You musta missed my posts.
He has a rugby brain and should have been brought into the mix a few years back.
As for Lee ... I must confess ... I haven't seen anything special about the lad. No doubt I'll pay more attention to him this coming weekend. See what your excitements all about.
Anyway ... welcome. Hope you have a thick skin. You're gonna need it to last on this board.

Thanks for the warm welcome wardad and cleancut!! And mozart, the only reason wynand was selected a few years back was because he was part of the BULLS, one of the favorite "springbok areas"...
I uploaded a few videos about the cheetahs currie cup this season, so if you want to check out that on youtube search "quacky96 cheetahs currie cup" and you'll find a playlist. In that playlist see the videos from #3 and beyond...that way you can see nico lee's influence (highlights) without having to watch the entire games!!! You're not gonna regret it. Have a great day everyone!

A decent S15 player and leader, is this chap and are many of his contemporaries really international class? Today against an aggressive Rebels centre pair, he made only 8 of his 12 tackle attempts. And was horribly skinned by Hodge for the match deciding try.
On attack, time and again he crowded the players outside him, never beat a tackle and frankly looked very Stepfonteinish.
My conclusion is he may play a few tests but won't survive in international rugby. Sadly that is true of many of the players Fantasy Rugby selectors are so sure about."

You can't judge a player based on a game or two Mozart, everybody can have a bad day...I guess we will have to take a closer look at him until the end of the Currie Cup season.
Of course, EVEN if he and the Cheetahs win the cup, Coetzee will most likely overlook him in favor of the same old, same old, which are playing like shi*t at the moment.
Maybe next Super Rugby will be the true decider! (also worth mentioning that the Cheetahs were completely rebuilding this year, they were ripped and shredded of players during the offseason...this time it will be different )

Need to look at him when he is playing better opposition. But then we have, in the S18.
My experience is you can judge based on just one incident....when that incident highlights an unfixable shortcoming....e.g. When Robbie Fruean ran over Jordaan....size deficiciency. Or when Hodge skinned Venter....pace deficiency. Taute same thing, JJ same thing, Step same thing.

Or when Patrick Lambie bust through the feeble tackle of Skulk Burger to score the winning try in the Currie Cup final . . . or when Victor Matfield's dangerous tackle in the 2015 RWC semifinal reversed the penalty and got him a yellow card instead . . . individual moments that lost important games and defined careers .

Pace deficiency...well boy, that Juan de Jongh must be super fast, how did I miss that? But seriously, ONE GAME? ONE MISSED TACKLE? In that case we might as well disband the whole Springboks team, 50% winning margin this year is not by any means south african standards.

The only Cheetahs back that could be in the Bok mix is the scrummie Shaun Venter.
The centres are nothing much to shout about and Rhule barely makes it at Super 18 level. De Jongh is not test material as everyone but the coach should know.
I think the despicable Dark Duck and the quackster should get on just fine.

Quacky just ask yourself how well the Cheetahs did in the Super comp.
Don't feel too bad Quacky as we have nutters like Saffex who rate Seargeal Pietersen!(Spelling?)
THis flimsy little backs have no place in Super Rugby and at test level. They have to be extraordinary before I would consider little losers like these.
Also be assured being a half witted nutter with no rugby ac*men doesn't get you kicked off the board lest only I and one or two others would be left.
