Last night I went to go and sit in front of the TV witout any real expectation as indeed the Babyboks lost the series against Argentina.

My was I surprised I have not seen a south African team carve up a defense like that in years. It's not just what they did, but how they did it. Free running from the back three offloading into space at pace, It was beautifull to watch.

Cheslin kolbe and later Jesse Kriel where both exceptional from the back. Senatla and Olbi where looking for work and Geduld at 13 what a move from the coach the kid has vision and pace, loads of it. Pollard was very good at 12 distributing like a 12 should our backs where just in the right spot at the right time. given the USA aren't that good as a team that however should take nothing away from the way the baby boks played.

The forwards were physical but continuesly looked for the man nest to them in space.

We also might have found Etzebeth's partner. Jacques du plessis is one to watch. He might be better than Stef du Tiot plus he is bigger and seems faster.

Lastly, congrats to Mr Theron, Venter, Mokuena and company this was exceptional to watch, good luck on the rest of the tournament and hope we can do this every game :)...

Ek I agree with you - it really was most entertaining. However we must not lose sight of the fact that the USA is the lowest rated team in the Junior WC. In this case entertaining running rugby into space was a given - but this will not be the case against against the highr-rated teams like England -whom the youngsters are playing on Sunday. The English are better and they have bigger and much stronger physically players and speed alone will probably be counter-productive. There are always going to be problems unless the kickers at goal produce value as well - it really was abysmally poor last night. I think that Kolbe is excellent - but this type of rugby looks like 7's - not 15 man-rugby. It would be wrong to try and play the 4 sevens players at 13, 14, 15 and 16. Two of them would do against England - four will not work. Against England I would change the center pairing to Van Rensburg and Swanepoel and put Jesse Kriel at full back. Kolbe and Geduld can then be on the bench and be the impact players to be brought on later in the games. The fun is over - now for the real business.

Mike not so fast.  There is brilliance there and we should not be too quick to throw it away. Those seven players have played against some very good senior players and done  well. Senatla has been brilliant. Give them a shot against England.

How good is our pack is a question. The match against England should tell us a lot. Coach must react quickly and use bench to solve any emmerging problems against England

Beeno agreed he should take that gamble against Engalnd with these creative players. He has a bench to counter it if it backfires.

Regarding the forwards. I don't think our scrumming was tested last night. We do have some pretty good loosies and that Jacques du Plessis should not play 7 he is as big and strong as Etzebeth why waste him there he is better than the other locks in the group.

We will only see against England if our props and Locks can stand up against the big boys, but the backline have shown that they can do it. Defense is the only question left unanswered, but we can only answer that question against England.

Ek, good to see you back. I have not seen a South African backline run like that for a long time.

Besides the natural talent you have to commend Dr Brendon Venter who I have always said is an excellent backline coach and should be with the Boks I believe. I mean you are getting an excellent brain and great experience at a high level.

May the baby Boks backline inspire some of the backline coaches in SA!!

I think the idea of Du Plessi at 7 is to beef up the pack. Maybe needed against England.

Glad to show my face a bit. Been a bit busy balancing work family and study. so not so much time for this :) Will check in every now and then but I will disapear alot and it will happen again :)

I understand the Idea behind it Beeno. But I think it's a waste, the guy is the best lock in the pack why not play him there. I love our Number 8 though the Captain, a physical nr 8 with some pace. And both our hookers look decent. but we will see the other locks and the prps agaist England reallly as i said we can't really say anything about their performance against the States.
