i watched a documentary the other day on the plane crash which killed members of the 58 manchetser united soccer team, and it got me wondering, what if such a tragic accident was to occur to the All Blacks (God forbid and bite my tongue) and none of the players or coaches there on the 2013 EOYT was available for 2015 onwards.

i then started thinking of players who would most likely represent the All Blacks as coach and who the players would be and this is what i came up,,,

coach
IMO there are three candidates for the job, grham henry, dave rennie and robbie deans.
my pick is simple, dave rennie and he is to be assited by wayne smith who is familiar with All black ins and outs as well as rennie.
reniis is simply the best coach in not only NZ, but also at spXV. folks can talk up all the jake whites and ewan mackenzies they want, but rennie has been coaching at spXV level for two years and has two super rugby titles, even more amazing considering it was the chiefs who was the NZ conference wooden spooners the year  before rennie took them to their first title.

henry would be a logical choice cos he is the most successful professional coach ever, but a situation like this shouldnt stop the All Blacks from continuing to develop woth the future in mind.
deano has got experience too, but hes been tainted by the yellow bellied dingos and thats just no good.

so dave rennie is head coach and wayne smith is the assistant coach.

players
here is a 36 man squad i think that coach rennie should pick, it would eventually be cut down with members cut making the wider training squad, but they would still have a heavy involvement considering the situation.

16 motu matuu, 17 jamie mackintosh, 18 ben taumafuina, 19 tom donnoley, 20 nasi manu, 21 piri weepu, 22 gareth anscombe, 23 tim nani williams

its a competitive team still and one still capable of winning the RWC, but it dosent come with the guarantee that the current real squad has when entering the 2015 RWC, :oP

@cloudy,

i actually had a selection headache regarding ged, cos it was out of him and corey flynn.

i love motu matuu as the All Black hooker for this squad, cos he can bring something to the table that no other frontrower can, the highest probability of sending an opposition to the hospital in a legal tackle. think of what bizzy did to carter, and with matuu that happens about 5 times every match he plays depending onb the amount of game time.

i then left corey flynn on the bench as i believe this squad needs experience and ultimately thats why i went with flynn instead ged on the bench.
also flynns a southlander like me, but that didnt have to much bearing on my line of thinking.

with hika elliot likely not returning, ged robinson would prob make the squad as the 3rd pick hooker.

Sas - curious why Wayne Smith isn't up there for head coach? Seems to be the #1 innovator in the NZ setup.

@oimatey,

"Sas - curious why Wayne Smith isn't up there for head coach? Seems to be the #1 innovator in the NZ setup."

IMO dave rennie is the No1 innovator in NZ, what hes done for the chiefs is nothing short of outstanding.
when rennie was first appointed chiefs coach, there were many youngsters whom he coached in other franchises who couldnt wait to play under him again, including aaron cruden and robbie robinson, crudz was at the time with the hurricanes (which was going through some serious internal drama cos of that cockhead hammet) and robbie from the highlanders.

rennie seems to be the best at getting the best out of people, the best of the best some might say, lolz, :oP

wayne smith is prob the best assistant coach in the world, hes able to support the head coach and implement his plan by using all the knowledge hes garnered over the years, a real team player.

and FYI, in that hypothetical situation, wayne smith would be the assistant coach to All Black head coach dave rennie, :o)

 Hi sportsfans !I have been cruising the Pacific with my missus for the last 2 weeks and arrived back in brisssy in time for the opening night of Rocky Horror ! Richard O'Brien that Kiwi icon of theatrical naughtiness sang "science fiction " in the encore too ![ beanhead best not think about that lest he be tempted by all that lusty sinful lustiness and general debauchery ! ] .She who must be obeyed enjoyed the x-mas cruise with her mum so much she decided to remain on board and I was commanded to attend her most gracious loveliness as she sailed the mighty Pacific the ship was alright too hahahah! not exactly a hardship now is it ? Did santa bring you all that you wanted ? or was he a miserable old prick ? Not even Saint Nick could help beandork overcome his delusions but with time and lots of regular consultations at Cloudies ABS rugger reality clinic for the mentally challenged there may be hope yet .......long shot that it is !Now thats a couple of competitive looking looking teams from the Saffas and the mighty ABS right there , wonder what an aussie team would look like , prolly no worse than what they already have I guess .Lets hope for an even better year than the last [ hard to imagine for ABS fans ] and I hope everyone enjoys their rugger !
