Looking at media reports it seems old meyer is allready starting to think he can take the AB with defence and kicking alone.....reading reports that he will take ugly win and takes about absorbing pressure just once again shows the negative mindset that seems to plague him as soon as we face the AB. looking at recent history the negative defence only game pattern does not yield any results

rather taking a leaf out of the english game that was played last year at the EOYT we should try to target them on attack and exploit them. breakdowns will be a free for all with the french ref so i hope meyer has done his homework this time.

if they boks pitch up and decide to attackt he AB's expect a real contest

attack wont decide this game. boks need to be smart but meyer already knows this. conservative approach will yeild better results than spurting out an attack approach that is historically a 50/50% bet at the best of times far worse than that most other times. the only thing that matters is that the boks take their opportunities when they are on offer. the all blacks are extremely good at soaking up phases and then turning over and hurting you. keep it siple direct and keep them in their own half. apply pressure at scrum time and lineouts and the boks will have them on the ropes. attacking hard will play exactly into their hands. you only need to look at last year, they attacked hard in the second test and had their asses handed back to them in a coffin. first rule of warfare, never play to your opponents strengths, and your not on your own turf either. that changes alot.

its nice to see your contradict your self

never play to our oppponents strenghts hey ????? so kicking to there ultra dangerous backline and allowing them to run at you is not a issue then right ? the AB live of posssesion thats there game.....but they dont like defending for long extended periods...by not chucking ball possesion away and forcing yourself onto there defence now that is not playing to the AB strong suits.....AB love to run but hate to defend. there game plan is not perfect but giving them the ball and asking you defence to keep them honest for 80 mins is a pipe dream and a recipe for loss.

kicking aimlessly is always bad. kicking intelligently is lethal and the all blacks will find it much tougher to deal with that htan a frenzied attack. theres no contradiction there at all. the all blacks need field position, they need quick ball and they love to play from broken play. youtr approach is to break the game up and just run at them. they deal very well with that theyvbe been the best defensive side for most years and thats where they feed off of opponents. theyve done it already this year and every other ytear sincxe year dot. there are too many factors that make an out and out attacvking game against them not work. and it definitely doesnt work for the boks. ill bet my bottom dollar that if the boks run at them they'll lose badly just like they did on home soil last year. its a recipe for failure. a recipe ewan has been serving to the t.

dear lord you dont read very well do you ?

you keep on harping the same old crud and not paying any attention to what i am saying are you ?

AB are not unbeatable but it seems they win there opposing teams even before there is any boots on the turf. from what i am reading in your posts you reckon we have a chance by kicking the ball down there necks and defend for 80 mins ????just a pity there is not points for tackles hey mate ?....great idea ask a attacking machine to run at you for 80...you must be a very faithfull man as i dont see that harry viljoen style game plan working. has not worked in over 20 odd years and dont see it happening now......

grind them out with your ball carriers hurt them physically and sap there energy tackle after tackle after tackle until the wall cracks......then you run them into the ground......

but we will see how meyer handles this test. but mark my words if hey is going into with the same mindset as he did last year expect the winning streak to end at eden park

Too long didn't read, all that was going through my mind is how you and Mike got it so wrong last week 'Meyer out! Blah blah blah Aussies are going to smash us! Blah blah blah doom is near! Blah blah blah'

Just goes to show how little you know of Rugby, All Blacks have kicked more than us and Ihi is completely right in the fact that kicking intelligently is super effective but yet again with your 'run them into the ground tactics' truly shows me the rugby knowledge you possess, or the lack of...

a kicking game can work if executed properly, and the sterotype that 10 man rugby is part of the Boks DNA is there for a reason.

in order for that kicking game to work though, u cant just let morne do all the work, we saw how badly that can backfire in 2012 when mornes sniper scope boot is broken.

back when fourie du preez was around was when the bulls and the Boks were at their most dangerous, du preez was the master of accurate box kicking and help lighten the load on morne.
between du preez and morne they caused everyone headaches and their tactics played a big part in the demise of the fijian wonder boys rokocoko and sivivatu and also the rise of NZ preferential treatment of fullbacks on the wing like corey jane and ben smith. yes jane is now a winger for the hurricanes, but at the time he was the hurricanes incumbent fullback.

pienaar dosent give me the same threat level with his kicking game, often a poor kicker, so if the All blacks just make sure theyre in position and watch morne carefully, they should be all good.

i watched last years test in dunedin again today at work, and it cracks me up how as soon as the Boks hit their first maul, jane, dagg and savea all drop back straight away to wait for the kick which piennar happily obliged too.

i cant shake the feeling that the Boks will try to muscle and kick their way to victory which is fine by me, cos it makes the All Blacks job all the more easier.
